Not Terrible
And deservedly so. After his shaky start in the first innings, he was superb. Has a desire to stay in the middle that most of the others are currently sorely lacking.
Yeah Guppy looks out of his depth, Baz is a slogger, Williamson looks like he did when he got all those ducks, Taylor looks out of form and pretty unsure about his game, Ryder looks in form but keeps playing lazy "catch me" shots, Brownlie looks possibly out of his depth but at 6 has a bit about him to hang around, Vettori looks like a total enigma as always and Young looks out of his depth.

There's a lot of problems in that lineup going into the next match. I don't think anyone should get dropped just yet but unless some of these guys turn it around in the next match we might not see a few of them against Zimbabwe.

Loving the footage of Danny Morrison, have always thought he wouldn't have been out of place as an 80's karate movie bully.

Brownlie out of his depth?

We have no one to replace them with though, and even if we do go the dropping route, the selectors will pick Watling...

The batsmen in contention are Watling, Franklin, Broom, Flynn, and I guess Murdoch and Woodcock statistically.

The first two are terrible, Broom is in dire form, Flynn is injured and I'm not sure what Murdoch and Woodcock are like.

On his efforts this season, Murdoch looks a bit too 'all or nothing' for my liking.

Broom would be an absolute joke at Test level, he can't even defend straight balls from part-time bowlers at ODI level

Nicol is closer in line than Murdoch. Broom is out of form and Flynn is injured.

We basically have Watling, Franklin and Nicol to come in at the moment. I wouldn't be surprised to see Nicol play against Zimbabwe ahead of Guptill if he doesn't score any runs soon.

Brownlie playing Lyon really well here, exactly they way you do it at The 'Gabba. Play them off the back-foot, negate the bounce because it won't turn so much that they'll bowl you through the gate.

You know what the real shame is......they were going to cover the 1985 test at tea today, sadly, it now looks like it will all be over by then :(

Flynn would probably be the favourite since he can bat anywhere in the top six, but I'm still not convinced he's gotten over his get to 40 then get out mantra.

I don't rate Nicol for tests at all.

Epitome of the front foot kiwi opener.
