Not Terrible
I'd proudly donate to the Jesse Ryder pie and beer foundation for the rest of my life if he tons up here.

Not a single bowled or LBW. Not saying it isn't seriously good bowling, but it does tend to suggest that our batsmen need some serious lessons in leaving deliveries.

No over-reaction. It's New Zealand and he's on debut. No one is saying he'd go out on a flat Adelaide Oval and run through England today. The point is that we have known about guys like Pattinson, Hazelwood and Starc for several years. They'd have played much more international cricket already except for injuries. They are all only 21. Then Cummins comes along almost out of no where. Now maybe all of them won't come good (and Starc doesn't impress yet), but we'd be pretty stiffed if two at least don't. Then we still have others as back up. A guy like Siddle will have to really lift his game to stay in the side.

So yeah, one game against a minnow doesn't make you the next Lillee, but the depth and quality of young quicks we have coming through is unprecedented in my time memory. Just a shame the batting cupboard is bare.
Agree, this would be a lower level than State 4 -day cricket to be fair, let's see how he goes against a proper test side before saying too much

It's been very similar to Philander's spell against us...some excellent bowling, some pretty dire shots.

No, no, I'm clearly wrong actually. 1 good bouncer and 3 hopeless wafts outside off stump are all you need to be proclaimed as an atg. I just hope that the ICC have the same foresight as you do and induct him into the hall of fame before the end of the year. It would be a travesty otherwise.
You totally misinterpreted what NZT was saying

Not to look past New ealand but it will be a good barometer for the quicks against India later in year. Will be interesting to see the team if Harris & Cummins are fit.

Enjoying the spell; a wonderful of bowling against NZ, is one thing.

Comparing him to Dale Steyn is another.

The comment regarding Australia having the best pace attack by the next Ashes was the best. Based on what? Two debutants? Come on
Except no-one said that. I'm pretty sure whoever said that said that Australia potentially could have one of the best attacks going around by the time they next tour here. And that's not unreasonable, there's a few good young quicks coming through in Australia.

I didn't say we would. England's attack is still the benchmark as I've said many many times. But times change and our young quicks coming through are superb quality. Now they're getting test cricket so early they'll be very handy and quite experienced come 2013. They'll certainly give your bats much more trouble than Johnson, Siddle and Hilfenhaus ever did.

He misinterpreted what I was saying first. So :p

Just for good measure, cracking shot there by Brownlie. If he keeps playing shots like that throughout his career without getting out, then New Zealand have found a batsman to rival Tendulkar.
