Haddin has to be one of the cleanest strikers down the ground going around these days

Vettori averaging 40 with the ball (and with the bat) in the last 4 years against test opposition who are not minors or the Windies. Batting misfired in the first innings but the big problem with New Zealand is their attack, it is rank.

I don't think they've bowled all *that* badly tbh. Bracewell yesterday, definitely, some of the new ball bowling wasn't brilliant either but they've not disgraced themselves.

Yeah Vettori and Brownlie basically showed the top order that they let us down in a big way. Particularly the way our batsman got themselves out. If we put up 400 in the first innings this second dig would be in an entirely different light. Batting has just gotten easier as the day has progressed, Haddin hasn't been troubled at all while Ponting and Clarke had to deal with a fair bit more in their innings.

Starc has filled the role of Johnson superbly in this match. Wickets taken from wide balls, high economy rate and this batting effort.

Not missing Johnson at all.

Southee has been a disappointment. Medium pacer at times.

Have they been off the field at all today? This seems a pretty slow rate in an extended day. I gather NZ have bowled pretty tight?

Always been a bowler that had it in him to bowl 135-145 but seems to be more worried about his line and length at the moment.

He has troubled the Aussies though and looks pretty good so I'm not all that concerned about pace. Wonder what he could have done in that first session on the first day...

Has been, although there was a 10 minute-ish break when Young got whacked in the mouth.
