Pffft, please...
Well he's not as awesome as Nev obviously, but he's basically a compact right hander with a sound defensive technique who used to be pretty limited in his strokeplay but has started opening himself up more of late. Canterbury used him pretty successfully as #3 a couple of seasons back.

I doubt he has big Test innings in him like a Haddin or a Prior but he the goal will be for him to be consistent there and support the higher ups with his tight technique, like Nev does for NSW.

If the ball continues to swing and seam as much as this morning, 250 would be an ok score.

That's still a long way away though.

How awesome was Lyon's spell?

Great captaincy, great field setting and great bowling.

Good cricket.

Too bad Williamson fell right for the trap, but hey...

The GABBA flattens out big time. Lunch on day two onwards is the best time for batting, absolute flat.

Not sure how likely we are of getting a full compliment of overs today itbt.

Good first session from the green attack. This is the first I've seen of Lyon since Sri Lanka and he looks much improved. I think he can become a very good test match bowler, given enough time.

Interestingly enough, after 6 matches, Warne had 13 wickets at 47.6. Not that Lyon will ever be in Warne's class but improvement is possible.

Since my previous weather report went from being high clouds with some blue to lower clouds with no blue. Darker grey coming in from the west, which is where the storms roll through from.

You can almost guarantee that the Brisbane test will have some rain. It's stupid that we host the first test of the summer, it's the wettest and stormiest time of the year. Better to host our test in late January, which is when our weather is almost always sunny*.
