How good is the Pakistan Team right now? (AKA the Pakistani climate thread)

While I see your point, I also think it shows Pakistan's ability to withstand pressure and continue to build the innings without containment forcing them into stupid shots.
with Lanka due to their inferior attack Pakistan could afford periods of dull batting as there was less danger of loosing wickets in clusters against them. Facing England you just never know when an Anderson, Broad or Swann bowl that match changing spell so you have to be at a constant look out for runs.

Faisal,

Its not difficult to keep pressure on pakistan batting lineup even against Lanka they barely went above 2.5 rpo throughout the series how will it be different when they face a superior English bowling attack
I just don't see the similar level of fast bowling from English fast bowlers in UAE conditions.

I am not saying i couldn't be wrong. I am not even questioning the superiority of English bowling attack but these bowling conditions will be tough for England bowlers who are playing their first test series here.

I see only Swann being on top of his game not the English fast bowlers in these conditions.

maybe the thing is that this pak batting line up bats so slowly that they wont feel the pressure when they are not scoring quick runs :p
Its not like SL scored at a mighty rpo either..the pitches are generally slow and its not a free flow of runs...imo.

I think it's a point that England's quick bowlers will not be as effective due to the conditions, but I think any quick bowling unit will struggle on these decks, not the fact that this England bunch are not skilled enough. If England's attack struggle to have an impact then I would suggest virtually every Test attack will struggle and will need to be helped significantly by some poor batting.

It may be that Swann, and possibly our second spinner, become the attacking options while the likes of Anderson, Bresnan, Broad or whoever, keep a lid on things at the other end. It does not look easy to penetrate on these decks, but I do think our seam attack can do a disciplined job. Fielding may be huge here as you'd expect chances to be in short supply, so the likes of Anderson (in slip to Swann), Cook, Bell, etc, all those likely to field close to the bat will need to be razor sharp.

well pakistan bowled out sl twice cheaply on these flat tracks, so i think its a big challenge for england to do the same.

as i said earlier, i think pakistan may naturally play into englands hands by becoming ultra defensive.

Also Pakistan haven't been scoring quickly against some pretty ordinary attacks of late anyway so how will they cope against a side who are a class well above what they have faced in recent months? Not writing them off but it is a huge test for them, especially the openers.

I think not scoring quickly enough was due to the pitches that are in the UAE. Also bear in mind the heat. The heat there is more intense than the sub continent. But I don't know what it's like in Jan.

the weather in the UAE is quite pleasant these days and is expected to stay this way until February

Think January time is when the UAE is at its coolest, Dubai from memory has an average in the mid 20s in January.

Tbf that's what any and every player says before a tour, they said the same before going to Bangladesh, not that I'm comparing mind.
He's right it will be a tough tour and I personally hope we get to see some competitive cricket between the 2 sides but like others have said, England's bowling has been all about building pressure by bowling accurately on good lengths and bowling in partnerships. I don't see them doing anything different this tour, granted the ball won't swing as much but like what was seen against India and Oz it doesn't have to be, they just build pressure and make the batsmen make mistakes.
