Australian Domestic Season 2011-12

Yeah, im a big fan. Im sure he'll never play for Australia again, but i expect him to be dominant in the shield, we need an all rounder too right now, if he made runs he could've been in with a shout, long shot of course.
Reckon he would have a very good chance right now if he was in the same kind of form from last season. With Watto out and no fifth bowler for what's going to be a very inexperienced attack, he'd have had a shout IMO.

Would have been very seriously thought about I reckon. If the Kiwis don't collapse in a heap Huss, Pup, Warner and Ponting may all get a few overs.

The revival of Ricky Ponting’s career as an all-rounder would be fantastic.

If we get on at the SCG Katich will be carrying the spin duties. Plenty of wristies have made their debuts older...
If a 36 year old wrist-spinner burst onto the scene and took 8 wickets at 19.87 (Katich record this season), there would be strong calls for his Test selection as a bowler.

If Kat is really hungry he could do it. Boyce is his only real wrist spin opposition atm. Fit enough, but will he build the bridges?

green pitch didn't help his chances either.

The way people are talking about O'Keefe in here, you'd think he had 26 wickets for the season. Not... 6.
He's played 2 games ffs. That 6 wickets therefore still leaves him ahead of the career w/m rate of Lyon, Beer, Hauritz, Doherty, Krezja, Boyce and any other spinner going around.

And who's basing their approval of O'Keefe just on those two games? (even though his performance in the second of them was unremarkable for him, but a far superior all round performance than any other spinner in the country could dream of producing) It's his career that ****s all over his opposition.

So your point is what exactly?

Must be ****ing frustrating for Cam. He's smashing them but just can't seem to get away in FC matches. Just one of those things.

haha, fair point, really. Even through the (relatively) good run he had a few years back, didn't score that many tons. Not scoring hundreds on AO when your pet shots both sides of the wicket are through square is criminal.

He's played three games, ftr. My point is that a guy (Lyon) has acquitted himself well, and it's more important for the culture of the side that the rug isn't pulled out from another bowler on a whim. But, I guess with a new selection panel, there might be the temptation to draw a line under everything that's happened over the past 24 months, and ask Clarke who he feels most comfortable throwing the ball to - he didn't give Lyon a massive amount of overs, although it was in South Africa.

I don't agree with his (SOK) treatment, that Beer skipped past him was ridiculous after the Australia A game. But when a guy isn't guaranteed a game for his state side, as he wasn't last year, it puts them in a spot of bother. Personally, think that Lyon's game has more to it with the ball than O'Keefe, but O'Keefe's probably slightly more ready now. But there's been greater travesties committed than going to Lyon, he gets more work on the ball than any other fingerspinner in Australia except maybe Krezja, and is pretty accurate to go with that.
