I think it's pretty clear the OP's criteria are:

Debut in or about 1989
Still be playing
For India, of course
Selective deafness
Failed captain
Decent but hardly exceptional fielder
Useful part time bowler
Refuse to move from your preferred place in the batting order, even if there are injuries or a crisis.
Won a World Cup*

* only 2011 counts.

Debut in 1928,
Should not be playing,
Must have had to face the difficult task of facing 3 minnows and 1 good team:-O(even though the good teams of that time were as good as minnows of modern era)
Should not have the videos of his innings,
The fielders in his era should not be even a quarter as athletic as they are today,
good fielding lowers the scoring rate and create runouts, this is not good for cricket:laugh:.
Umpires just loved to see him bat, so he was given LBW only 6 times, even though he gets bowled 23 times:laugh:
Should have had a lot of hype around him, thats the most important thing,
Strike should be a huge 29.7,
Should have lot of stories about him,(stories, not facts, stories are more interesting than facts)
He should be a player of a Semi-Professional Era,
professional era is so easy and boring:laugh:.
Should average 99.94.

Can we try to A. keep this thread on track and B. not turn it into a fishing trip? As fun as it appear to be, we don't need to be baiting people.

1 - must have been the best player of his era

so that eliminates sachin, if common sense hadn't already done so

Their record should allow them the ability to score 69 ducks in a row and still average > 50.

They should have played in at least 3 decades.

And they should have had newspapers run headlines simply stating "He's Out" when he gets out.
