Dunno about Cork, because he seems to generally talk rubbish, but he wasn't very complimentary of Hughes there - something along the lines of 'having captained him, he has a lot of growing up to do'.

Mark Butcher: "Phil Hughes has the worst technique of an opener I've ever seen. To score runs like that takes some real skill."

Dominic Cork: "Having played with him and captained him, he still has a lot of growing up to do."

Scathing. Discuss.

I agree with them personally. No ****ing idea how he succeeds at all.

Technique is a means to an end, and Hughes' record is good. Certainly didn't look like he had many flaws when he was smashing the bowling everywhere in the first innings, his skip out to Dale Steyn before smashing him through the covers was exquisite.

I'm not sure that those quotes are that scathing, though I don't know the context of them.

The Prince's technique is so unique. His game is pretty much purely based on skill, not a knock, just how it is.

And the bloke is only young and does have alot of growing up to do. He's pretty impressionable, which is both a positive and a negative, no doubt about it.

So the last hour and half is a write off due to the bad light and the forecast has it raining (non-stop) from 9am tomorrow. Lump on the draw?

South Africa made the wicket look better than it was this afternoon. I can't recall Morne Morkel winning many games for RSA in the 4th innings. Tahir should have been on much earlier. Weather permitting Aus should win. Partnership was too big.

Ponting's possible last stand was obviously going to be too newsworthy, so Bowden had to make himself the centre of attention again.
Yeah, definitely doctored the light meter. What a show pony

I hope Australia do it, I hope Ricky does it. It takes a lot for me to say that...I feel dirty

Like any Aussie I'm hoping for a Punter ton to seal us the test, but Steyn and Philander are bowling really well, Uzi and Punter were lucky to get to tea. With Tahir starting to come into the game and our tail in poor form I think the draw is our best chance of anything here. If it rains all day tomorrow I think SA will be the more frustrated of the two teams.

Mate tbf there's been a fair bit of luck involved for anyone who's made runs this match so far. Not like there aren't chances bring made by most bowlers*
