i will literally burn down CA head office if Langer gets the coaching job

but he shouldn't because we're actually having a process this time, unlike when he got the batting coach role

All that really says to me is that Langer should be nowhere near the current setup if Australia are to move forward.
Personally, never thought it a good idea to have recently retired players be a coach on same team. Must be hard to maintain objectivity or point out issues to their teammates of many years.

Katich I think would be better

Australia is being impatient. I really think punter should be given chances like Dravid and Sachin got.

the fact India has an opener who has 2 triple tons and we have an opener who has 2 tons is probably partly behind our impatience

True that but you can not ignore the fact that your youngsters aren't gold as well.
Khawaja and Hughes are not really 'replacement' for punter.

and who says that in time they won't be?

The youngsters need to be given a chance and Ponting has been ordinary since the last 4 years and terrible for the last 2. He is 36 and he doesn't seem that he will get better any time soon. I think the writing is on the wall. He should make a sensible decision and walk away now.

Or do you want to give him chances like Imran Farhat?

Believe me, Punter will strike gold against India. We have a history of helping batsmen get back into form

Farhat not a good comparison, given he wasn't being given chances because he's an ATG and has 10,000+ test runs behind him.

Honestly, I think Ponting should go. The question, however, is who to replace him with. Nobody's knocking the door down with piles of FC runs, and when the best option to come in is David Warner, there's something wrong.

Definitely something wrong with the next bloke in line being 25, having 30 international games under his belt and averaging 60 in FC cricket.
