Needless to say, the team is shaping up to be quite old school.

Interesting that MacLaren and McDonald got picked immediately after my pick. I considered them both but didn't like their test averages. I am a stats man :D

MacLaren's Test average looks pretty solid to me...?
Yes actually, not bad. Don't know why I gave him a miss then. Most likely I didn't want two batsmen from same era (having already picked Phil Mead) specially when I was so low down in the draft order.

Blakus

State Vice-Captain
Mcdonald was a rather easy pick for me actually.
He was held in high esteem by his contemporaries, his first class performances and limited test appearances suggest that he was much better than his test average, and he was one half (the other being Gregory) of the first great fast bowling duo from Australia.
Although I'm expecting him to be my 12th man, I wouldn't be dissatisfied if he made it to my first XI.

Weldone XI so far:
Clem Hill
George Ulyett
Jack Blackham+
Bert Vogler

I'm pretty happy with Blackham and Hill, two absolute champions. Ulyett will be an useful allrounder. Vogler was probably the best bowler in the first famous spin triplet. But in all honesty, one among Ulyett and Vogler will probably be sitting out as the 12th man.
