Oh, wow.

Great to have you around, Martin. Hoping you stick with us, would be fantastic to hear from you in other threads too.

@SteveNZ I think your odds are spot on, and I would be rapt to average 35 for Cornwall. I think every club cricketer should aspire to play rep cricket, thats why I said it would be great if I did, but highly unlikely. If you play at Cornwall we should catch up over a beer.

Martin Crowe was the best batsmen around in his time - he somehow managed to combine the grace of a Gower with the power of a Richards - can't see him still being able to cut it at 48, and if he can't I sincerely hope he doesn't spoil the memories by trying, but if has still got it then I can't wait to see it
Relieved to see I didn't let myself down with my only previous contribution to the thread, unlike a few ignorant ****s around these parts

Welcome Hogan, and please stick around if for no other reason than you're nearly as old as me - you might even enjoy it here, if you don't have much of a life that is :)

My beloved club is playing Cornwall in the first two-dayer of December, the triumphant return of MD Crowe to Cornwall Park. Can't wait

It's me. I understand all sides of argument, I have been thru them all. It's a silly challenge but I have committed to it and as soon as it gets too hard, or thru injury I will start coaching only instead. Time will tell.
Great to have you on board, Mr. Crowe.

And I agree with PEWS that your idea isn't silly at all. Maybe some people need new challenges at different stages of their life. Perhaps coming back to the game you love motivates you more than anything else at this stage.

I would also like to believe that unlike a pace bowler (whose is fairly physically exacting as a vocation) a batsman never loses it completely. Especially someone who isn't overly dependant on hand-eye coordination. Would be cool to see you get back to what you did best - a shame I was born a decade or so later - and show some real batting class. And please do pour in with your insights on some of the tests going on around the globe!

Howick Pakuranga! Yes Dec 10 if selected will be a return to Cornwall Pk after 30 yrs! In truth when I wasn't selected for Prems on Nov 5 I knew it would be another month before I walked out in front of Dad (his ashes), hence the frustration spilled over. In my mind from late June I had Nov 5 set, but that's life. At least i got a taste of Reserves!!! And let me tell you I have never been so nervous as walking out 2nd day. To miscue a full bunger was just reward!!

Not in a million. I've already spent a term in first year of IPL, walked away and would never return in any capacity, ever.
Oh that little icon I put after the question mark is an internet meme called the sarcasm mark.:p

Yeah I remember you said in an interview with Stephen Fleming how nervous you were going into the first ever game (if this is you of course lol).

Anyway good luck with your comeback and do stay on as a regular poster please :)

All the best Martin, if it really is you. (only a couple of players have ever posted here as far as I know).

Hope it works well for you and no matter what your continued drive and involvement will greatly benefit cricket there. I'm sure all CW members think its awesome you took time to register and post here, hope you stick around!
I'm always aware it will not sit well with some. As with anything I say or do. No problem with that at all, it's healthy. But I do prefer fans to be informed accurately as well. So happy to join in, and answer on any queries re cricket.

would love if you can post on the 243982394 best batsmen or best bowlers threads :)

Not to mention the x10 of that number player A vs player B threads..

If its no trouble, who was the quickest bowler you faced and if you were to be a 'kph' on some of the bowlers from your day, so that they could be compared to this age, what would they be?

Aha! Now I know it's not Hogan - we all know he loves a wine... ;)

What was the name of that trotter you had in the 1980s?

haha, like clockwork, a pace-related question from Manee.

Tipping Marshall to be the response.
