Disagree, Wade has been outperforming Paine all his career, and was outstanding last 2 seasons. This season though, the door is gone, even the hinges are destroyed.

In OD yes - why we sent Paine to the WC and not Wade.... - but his FC season last season was probably his worst one since his first one

Australia has a bit of a recent history of not introducing keepers until some of their prime years have been lost. Can Wade do any worse than Haddin?

I think it's more of a case of wanting to stick with the incumbent for as long as possible, which is the right way to go about it. But as with Gilchrist replacing Healy, if the incumbent's not setting the world on fire and someone in first class cricket is, things will be reconsidered.

Reckon they'll give Haddin a bit of extra time as it is. I hope they don't though, mainly just because replacing him ASAP is probably the only way Wade's going to get a look in over Paine.

what are the succession plans for Mark Boucher ??

He was walking on thin Ice last year
Bouch is in the team for the forseeable future as Gary as the coach and his team-mates are happy with what he brings to the team overall.

In the medium to long term I think there are a few options in Heino Kuhn/Dane Vilas/Daryn Smit but I think 18 year-old Quinton DeKock will do a Boucher and jump the queue as a youngster ahead of senior keepers on the domestic circuit when the times right.

Now, all I've heard of this lad is his name, but rest assured I'm already a fan.

His (admittedly short) batting record is sensational. Is he a proper keep or a modern converted batsman?

I have seen a bit of his keeping and it does look decent. But our u19 coach and ex SA gloveman Ray Jennings (does have high standards by the way) thinks he can improve.

He is an impressive young batsman. One of those players who makes it look easy and scores fast because of his wide stroke range.

Some of the gold from this thread:

Madness. Even for the Saffers, this is an epic choke. Srs.
heh, Amla. Manages to do ****-all against OZ again.
I am absolutely pissing myself!

T_C with some top-class fate-tempting.

Thank goodness these one-sided affairs are only two Tests long, couldn't stand anymore than that!
This really is enthralling Test cricket. Fantastic stuff.

What a travesty this is a 2 Test series.
I love how close together these two posts were.

At some point someone else will remember how to bat again...
You'd think you'd have learned something from watching Oz bat in the last few years..

haha, I'll wear that.

Just to see certain SA players fail, though, it's worth sacrificing an Aussie win. SA are just bullying a minnow anyway so any runs and wickets by them are worthless.

EDIT: GF, your avatar looks like a big infected anus. Putting it out there.

Saw plenty of them when I was walking around in Glasgow two years ago, tbh.

Was in the member's section at Celtic Park wearing a bright orange jacket I'd bought in Paris. Was expecting to be brutally killed any moment.
