8th over of the innings and Mitchell Johnson is in to bat. Can't say I saw it coming.

Glad I've got tomorrow off - can't stop watching this, compelling stuff.

Does it seem dire to anyone else that if the umpire had given it not out and Philander had reviewed it, Clarke would still be batting?
Nope, if it's close then the umpire gets it, that's the whole point. I think that's fantastic. Otherwise it'd swing things even further towards the batsmen (Not that they're having a fun time right now) because you'd have to be hitting the inside of the stumps for any LBW to be given at all.

No, how is that any more dire than what just happened? It was a borderline call.

That's a bizarre POV Cribb.

Well for me it's either out or it's not, and that was out. My way would actually result in a ****load more lbws in general, although as always I'm sure I'm in the minority there.

Brydon Coverdale from Newlands: "Word from the Australian camp is they're still unsure if Marsh will bat today, but it is very doubtful."

Is it fair to say that the umpires have gone from giving not out to marginal decisions (De Villiers, Amla) to firing the close ones (Watson, Ponting, Clarke) ?

Call me an optimist, but I still think we'll score more than S.Africa's 96. Been one of those days.
