Starting to like Crowe more and more these days. I almost never agree with what he says, but he's at least forced me to form an opinion, which is usually a positive.

Looking at the current state of NZ cricket, I wouldnt be surprised if Crowe gets into the current test XI:ph34r: Imagine Martin Crowe playing a Test match at a very "young" age of 49-50:p

You have reminded me of a story -

Have you read Martin Crowe's book Joe - he claims if he had've captained us in the field we would have won the semifinal. He reckons he would have had Patel bowl the 2nd over rather than the 1st and that would have given the pakistani's one less over against him in the 1st 15. He also reckons that John Wright came off the field for a dump with less than 15 overs tto go in a panic and said tell me who to bowl - Crowe freaked out and reckons he wrote down the perfect bowling order to get us through the death overs. And Wright put it into his back pocket and did the exact opposite.
I've heard this as well..it's Martin Crowe pumping up Martin Crowe - which he's adept at doing. Hell, it's why he's back playing the game now, because ye olde ego needed a new bit of stroking.

Absolute conjecture and possibly rubbish. Maybe he would've, maybe he wouldn't have. But Eden Park is a small ground and Inzi/Moin were smashing it. Who knows. Martin knows we can't know, so he can say he would've brought it home and we have to buy it.

After all, he masterminded the demolition of Papatoetoe's 2nd XI on Saturday.

Someone else has plucked him for coaching? Seems unlikely given his family commitments...

No wait, I have it.

He's going to be Northern Districts first batsman they sign for this season.

Got my money on one of the other provinces snapping him up in a squad player/coach role within the squad.
They'd have to have ridiculously poor batting depth to consider a 49 year old currently 15* in second eleven club cricket, even if it is Martin Crowe.

So it's definitely Northern Districts.

They don't have to pick him if he does nothing in club cricket though, and they get a proven batting coach to help out the entire squad. Good investment IMO.
