The judge has lost his marbles. I wouldn't expect any of these sentences to stand on appeal.
Yep, completely agree with that (except the I'm all for it part).Spot fixing at cricket. I'm sure there are victims of real crime who'd feel pretty hollow seeing these kids go to jail, if UK is anything like Australia theres some pretty sideways stuff that ruins lives and goes unpunished. Cricket betting scandals pretty low on the list for mine. Before you go crazy, I'm all for it - just seems out of wack (though not up to date on UK justice system ftr)
Yep I agree, and before people start howling I agree with the cricket judgements, but different views on prison sentences.Spot fixing at cricket. How does that one work??Harsh..makes up for the relatively short bans they got from cricket though.
I agree with you that the justice system in UK is messed up. I said elsewhere that they'd have got shorter sentences for fiddling with a kid over here. I just think our justice system is too soft throughout the board, would increase the sentences and make it a deterrant not a short holiday.Spot fixing at cricket. Oh god here we go again with the 'no proof' crap.I don't understand some of the comments made by the judge
On Asif:
There is no evidence of any prior involvement on your part in such activities but it is clear that Majeed had every confidence in you playing your part when identifying the no ball that you would bowl on the 26 th August. It is hard to see how this could be an isolated occurrence for you either.

That is just a presumption that Asif committed other spot fixes (we need to remember that no one got defrauded because this was only a trial to prove that players were under the control of Majeed). So why such a sentence with that being taken into account, without any proof?
I remember 3 utter scumbags in Manchester didn't even go to jail for torturing a vulnerable autistic kid.I agree with you that the justice system in UK is messed up. Yes but you can allow people who are not at all harmful to society to serve prison sentences.I remember 3 utter scumbags in Manchester didn't even go to jail for torturing a vulnerable autistic kid for an extended period.

Absolutely disgusting and vile things which in my opinion should have resulted in an *indefinite* custodial sentence because such warped minds are a danger to anyone vulnerable in society. You can't allow people as twisted as that to roam free on the streets.
There's text message evidence, isn't there, it's not just Majeed's words? So you will take Mazhar Majeed's words that there were other instances? If that is the case then, he also claimed that Australian players were also involved.
The sentencing is based on the no-balls, the judges comments are just that (at least thats how I read it)I don't understand some of the comments made by the judge

and Asif21. I sentence you in respect of the no balls bowled at Lords alone but bear in mind your prior agreement in respect of the maiden over at the Oval, of which telephone evidence was heard, as well as the West Indies exchanges.
32. I sentence you in respect of your agreement to bowl that no ball, again bearing in mind all the factors I have mentioned before in sentencing today.
Don't forget yer torch and pitchfork.I remember 3 utter scumbags in Manchester didn't even go to jail for torturing a vulnerable autistic kid.
