Butt/Amir/Asif - Spot Fixing Trial

 Why? They broke a British law and faced trial in a British court.
They can still be extradited i believe if both governments agree or if there is a treaty to do that and they want serve their time in Pakistan.

Doubt the UK government would agree to that though in any case as they might be contenders to be let go after a little time due to a Presidential pardon and political pressure in Pakistan. Same happened with Michael Shields being extradited to UK from Bulgaria and then let go due to a Royal pardon. Doubt, Pakistan has the political clout or links to do that either and Ideally they should serve the sentence in UK AFAIC.

Already had this debate before in this thread IIRC and to think that will solve everything is too simplistic a way of thinking and naive.

yeah it won't because it'll take time for the underground circles to die out, but i'm talking in 10-20 years time. Over here we had a case in a rugby league game where persons - inspired by this incident imo - tried to spotfix something. Indeed they tried and it almost happened, but even before the match started the gambling companies had flagged it as suspicious. It won't fix everything but it's a step in the right direction, if the ICC could somehow manage it

so we all thought of the same person when Majeed said there's another key fixer in the team right

although i've already changed my mind and think it's someone else

Judge is told that Asif was given such a huge chunk of the cash to keep him loyal and stop him going to another group of fixers

lol...

Now Judge asks an amazing q: was Amir simply "infected" by the atmosphere within Pak team where corruption was so "widespread"?

ITSTL. Asked the same a while ago.:p

My view: there's a lot about how much these players have lost. But not a great deal of remorse, which counts a great deal in sentencing
Agree with that, based on what has been reported so far.

Lock 'em up.

Why are they bringing up Amir's talent? Yep he was so good that he was virtually nailed on for a long career, financial security and a good life. How is that going to help Amir's case?

You wouldn't be referring to a wicketkeeper who inexplicably failed to run out Michael Hussey at Sydney would you?

#spotfixing Amir says in remorseful statement: "I don't know if cricket will ever want me again" but I'm relieved to have pleaded guilty.

good on him better late then never.

"I want to apologise to all in Pakistan and all others to whom cricket is important...The best day of my life was when selected by Pakistan I did the wrong thing. I was trapped, because of my stupidity. I panicked"
