Another 50 for Ferguson. Isn't it about time he got back into the ODI team. He averages over 40.
Ferguson is one of the 6 best ODI batsman IMO, but unfortunately I think the selectors feel Clarke and Hussey perform a similar role to him. The selectors build a batting team around Watson, Ponting, Clarke, Hussey and pick other batsman because they offer a different sort of role. Warner for his aggressiveness and Mitch Marsh and Steve Smith get picked due to being bits and pieces Cricketers.

Ferguson's probably really battling it out with Shaun Marsh at the moment.

nah don't think there's any reasoning to Ferguson's omission. One month he's in their good books, then next month he isn't. **** knows why. don't mind him missing this tour though and playing some shield.

If they are thinking Clarke and Hussey are similar then there is the problem right there. Hussey usually strikes at a run a ball, Clarke is around the 80 strike rate and can go slower at times. Ferguson is more like Hussey and having more Hussey's can't be a bad thing. Having more Clarke's I can understand however.

Sadly Henriques is not the guy you want bowling at the death.
cricket.com.au saying Haze bowled last over - the one with the 6 - and that strac is bowling now? yeah moz is the best of a bad lot

clearly this never would have happened if we left kat as captain

Was the over before Haze one I was talking about. Let's just say you wouldn't want any of our seamers bowling at the death.

christ Rohrer I said you had to give starc and haze a total of 1-2 overs, not 5! ffs.

Great innings by Tom Cooper. His time with Netherlands hasn't harmed his development. One of the better limited over cricketers in the domestic game now.

the comparisons to MJ are there for a reason

I think we'll see the South Australian batting line-up putting on some massive scores at home again this season. The batting line-up is pretty assured now, in my opinion. Klinger, Ferguson and Harris look set for strong seasons with the bat. Cooper has learnt a lot about his game in the last 2 years, I think this will be his major break through season. I'm confident that Ludeman and Crosswaite can do a solid job in their preferred formats. The Number 5 position could be up for grabs though. Borgas and Blizzard are going to have to be a lot more consistent than what they have shown. I'd personally have Borgas in the shorter formats and Blizzard in 4-Day games. Daniel Christian is the X-factor for the Redbacks. If he performs with the bat consistently, we could potentially see the Redbacks gunning for a trophy providing the bowling line-up peforms well enough.

The tail is a lot stronger than what it used to be now. Lyon, Mennie and Richardson are all relatively decent with the willow. There is no why reason why James Smith can't be successful at first class level either. It's very frustrating to see the guy averaging sub 30 with the bat, it doesn't reflect his talent at all. Hopefully Berry sorts him out, maybe maturity was the problem with Smith.

O'Brien has been dropped from both the one day team and first class team. I don't think Darren Berry is a fan of the O'Brien type player at all.

Nice start to the season and I think Hughes batted brilliantly of course, great to see him relax and spend time in the middle for the sake of the national team

Michael Hussey is the ideal limited overs batsman to have in your side, it beggars belief that you wouldn't want more guys like him.

I didn't say I wouldn't - I'm giving a reason why I don't think Ferguson is currently in the Australian setup. The fact that he can't bowl, isn't a noted fielder or opener makes him not needed in the selectors eyes as the selectors probably figure that we have enough quality to bat out 50 overs and reach and/or surpass target scores.

BTW - well done SA for winning today vs. NSW. the 3 NSW quicks are going to find it hard to keep their spots when Bollinger, Cummins, Lee etc. return.

I love that NSW has 5 potential opening shield batsmen in their side - Hughes, Maddison, Jaques, Katich and Khawaja.
