Yeah, definitely.Wasn't Haynes considered a better ODI batsman than Greenidge. IMO its always been Greenidge>Haynes in Tests and Haynes>Greenidge in ODIs.

He held the ODI runs record for a long time as well...He was a perfect ODI opener for the 60-overs-a-side matches those days...Haynes held the ODI centuries record with 17 when no one else was even close.. then the '90s had that explosion in ODI cricket and Sachin, Anwar, Ganguly and Sanath starting piling them up.
This team's bowling is unbelievably good.Adam Gilchrist

Yeah, Both Greenidge's and Haynes' strike rates have to be kept in the context of Viv Richards coming in after them too. It eliminated any need for them to take risks, they had to provide a solid start and that's what they did more often than not.He held the ODI runs record for a long time as well...He was a perfect ODI opener for the 60-overs-a-side matches those days...
It's good but not as good as my teams bowling unless you somehow think Bevan is a better bowler than Simon O'Donnell. This team's bowling is unbelievably good.
Never suggested such. I just mean that Australia really had a plethora of outstanding ODI bowlers in their past. It's good but not as good as my teams bowling unless you somehow think Bevan is a better bowler than Simon O'Donnell.
Lehmann ahead of Jones and Symonds is an interesting/controversial call. Jones was pretty much considered the best Australian ODI batsman prior to Ricky Ponting/Michael Bevan emerging. As discussed elsewhere in this thread, Symonds was an amazing ODI batsman as well.AT Aus Squa of 15

Not a fan of dropping one of the best openers in the world for another great player when the later has experience batting at various positions(no.4 in tests for the majority of his career) in international cricket. Both should play.
Rest of the squad:
Nathan Bracken
Dean Jones
Andrew Symonds
Ian Healy (back up keeper)
That's fair enough. Just surprised with all the talent we have on offer that his name would come up.What was wrong with O'Donnell? My top 5 batsman are very good and should be able to bat through the majority of overs so I wanted numbers 6 and 7 to be the most aggressive batting combination possible and also good enough to get through 10 overs with ease and I feel more confident with SOD's ability with the ball compared with Symonds.
Good team. Interested about your avatar, btw. Who is that person?Saurav Ganguly

Lee didn't get the new ball for quite a few years in his career when McGrath and Gillespie both took it.Not enough G Chappell love in this thread for me. WAG (from a batting perspective).
Gilchrist
Watson
Ponting
Jones
Chappell
Bevan
Hussey
Warne
Lee/Bracken (since Lee won't get the new ball)
Lillee
McGrath
12th man M Waugh (handy fielder off the bench too)
For the record I think Junior is a better batsman than Watto but need his overs (not that Mark couldn't bowl of course).
I might have picked Symonds if I didn't think he was a massive douche but don't know who of the selected to leave out anyway.
Well if that is the case (I don't remember) Lee over Bracken.Lee didn't get the new ball for quite a few years in his career when McGrath and Gillespie both took it.
