Indian Domestic Season 2011/2012

Dhawan opening for ODIs would still be a better choice than the wicketkeepers. But honestly, poor scheduling has robbed the event of some quality cricketers, making it less relevant than (believe it or not) the CLT20.

Following it on cricinfo, pitch looks absolutely flat although it was mentioned in the papers that pitch has some some grass so it will help bowlers. Either the Rajasthan bowlers have bowled poorly or the pitch is absolute road or it may be combination of both.

Dhawan scoring at Sehwag rate

EDIT : And as I typed he got out

He is carrying a injury in his wrist/hand and has been holding it a few times, and also the wicket seems a pretty standard flat jaipur wicket. And with a strong batting lineup to bowl too and no Pankaj Singh, it has been tough for him.

Is injured. Don't know what type though,

We've been losing the stream quite often here on our set-tops.

Apparently, Sanjay Dixit, the RCA chief, has posted a couple of times on Cricinfo articles. Fans, not surprisingly, heckled him and claimed Rajasthan kept advancing on leads on their flat Jaipur wicket, and wouldn't be surprised if they got relegated. Not much in this Rajasthan side, but a lot more likeable than, say, Saurashtra.

Rahane looks set for a double ton here. He is just a run machine at this level.

Random Patel fell after a start yet again, and Mandeep Singh has gone off to a flyer looking impressive.

Yeah, there strategy was to get first innings lead on the flat Jaipur wicket, while Baroda who were the other finalist had a strategy of preparing really low scoring breaking wickets that turned.

I wonder why people have such sky-high expectations from Deepak Chahar. He's young, only a season old, and he should finish four more domestic seasons before he is in contention for a national berth. Pankaj Singh is so much better because of that experience.

And there goes Rahane for 152.

Rest of India also have such a long tail too with Ojha at 8 and Vinay Kumar at 7.

Bhatia shouldn't be a Test prospect...
...as also Laxmi Ratan Shukla being the best seam-up batting all-rounder for 50-overs.
Agree on both counts. The experiments with bits-and-pieces cricketers in the longer format hasn't worked well in the past. Still in LOIs, both Shukla and Bhatia ought to be mentioned ahead of under-19 star Jadeja.

Looks like they've prepared an absolute road at Jaipur again. The experience of the ROI bowlers should ensure that they fare better than the rookie attack of Chahar and co.
I see that the guests have piled on the runs mercilessly. Wouldn't mind to see Rajasthan's "planning" backfire on them in this match.

Anyone seeing the match live? How does Aniket Choudhary look to your eye?

I understand that Chahar and himself are bowling on an absolute featherbed, but the left-armer has managed to hold his chin up so far. Thoughts?

Chahar tried to get an edge of Vinay Kumar- the first time, dropped short of the keeper, and then the next one was caught by slip, off a no-ball. Harsh. Hopefully Vinay makes the most of this double reprieve.

This one innings has resulted in Chahar's SR moving up by 5 and his average by 4 :p
