Apparently due to injuries India are going to be allowed to play five overseas players to try and make them win at least one match.

Can't wait for this. NOT

I presume all the games are day/night so will start at a reasonable time?

I hope we take a mixed squad of senior players (ones who are fit) and a selection of youngsters like Bairstow, Stokes, Woakes, Taylor etc... to give the kids some experience of what it is like to play in India. Would certainly have KP back with Morgan out injured.

Guess it is too early to make any predictions as with both sides having so many injuries it is anyones guess who will be in the sides.

Someone to confirm how many of the injured Indians will be fit for this and how much match practice they'll have. If anyone picks up an injury in the CL I'll rage.

If he bowls like he did against the Windies the other day, and is used properly (i.e almost exclusively in the last 20 overs) then possibly. Even then, I doubt he or any of our bowlers will do great.

If Dernbach is going to be a death overs specialist and be carried the rest of the time, then he needs to prove that he can do at least that job on a consist basis. T20s are a good place to show that in, as death bowling is pretty much the entire match.

So I'll only want Dernbach in the ODI team when he's strung consistent international T20 performances together, or he starts to show that he can be versatile by improving his new ball bowling for Surrey. Preferably both.

In India Patel, Pieterson and Bopara might do a tidy job in place of Dernbach in the initial overs. It goes against the idea of picking Dernbach as a specialist bowler but if you're going to pick him I reckon it might not be that bad an idea to have him bowl 5-6 overs at the death and the other 4 from Patel.

With the 2 new ball rule and the presence of Anderson in the side, if England are smart tactically then there's little to no reason for Dernbach to touch the ball in the first 20 overs unless he's fielding.

Problem with saying "do it for Surrey" is that he already has, he's been the best quick bowler in this season's CB40 by an absolute mile - including an outstanding performance in the final at Lord's.
