I don't think that's necessary. Would only have a lot of detail such as quotes or opinions that in fairness would have to be redacted anyway. The important thing is that the recommendations are public, we can assess if the recommendations are worthwhile or just managementspeak (seem mostly worthwhile to me so far), and we can as a public use the recommendations to hold CA to account.

I wonder if the expanded National Head Coach role, or even the GM Team Performance roles would interest Ric Charlesworth? I could easily see him commanding the respect required and having all the right attributes for either role.

Still sceptical about the idea of coach and captain being on the selection panel, tbh. The right personalities and it might work but so often, it's a risk. A player who's not travelling well mentally might, for example, be reticent to mention this to the bloke who can directly impact on his chances of selection. Has been extensively written about by players who played in the 80's/90's how, if you were on the outs with Bobby Simpson, it was incredibly tough to get back in with him let alone the side. Were more than a few accusations that he directly ended some careers, in fact. Separating out at least the coach from selection was one of the best decisions made when Geoff Marsh took over, not sure why they've rolled that one back.

Good call. Smart guy and was a decent cricketer too, played a few years for WA in some shield-winning sides, from memory.

He was universally hated by the New Zealand side when he was around. He's big on putting pressure on senior players and moving them on in favour of younger players if they have a bad patch.

He was one of the orchestrators of the random Astle droppings iirc.

I can understand your concerns.

However, I think it will be good in this current team, for the coach and captain to be in positions of such authority, and for there to be some distance between them and the players. The report is flooded with mentions of the need for "adult conversations" between the hierarchy and the rest of the team. This to me suggests that in recent times there has been a climate of matey-ness within the team where the coach and captain are just part of the playing group, and are not tough enough with the players. If, by having the coach and captain part of the selection panel instills some fear, distance and authority, then that's a good thing. There's no doubt to my mind that Clarke needs to have more of a formal relationship with the younger players, and not try to be in the cool group. Besides, the players can seek out the specialist batting and bowling coaches if they have concerns about the information being used against them by the captain and coach.

My concerns with the panel lie more in the fact that there are now five members on it. This is way too many people to be picking just 12 players.

Got to laugh at Neilsen trying his hardest to play victim.

Good grief Son.

You travelled the world for five years, were unaccountable, and will get a huge payout (because you were inexplicably renewed before the Ashes last year).

He should be thankful, not bitter.

Long overdue. Hilditch is a very unimpressive individual. Comes across as a bloke who's never seen a buck he didn't want to pass.

My reading is that Chappell stays on as "national talent manager" (no, me neither) in a non-selectorial capacity tho. Which could be a shunting aside of the "we no pay no feelthy compo" variety by CA, but could mean he'll still be around the national side.

Nielsen should go too. Nice bloke, but patently evidence of the Peter Principle in full effect.
Would imagine that it would see him relegated to issues regarding Academy, and basically taking recommendations from the states to the national selectors.
