Personally I think the main thing to come from the Dispatches program was just how utterly ****ing useless their testing procedures are. The no-name Jock and a few cover-ups with 6 month 'injuries' shouldn't have been the focus. I mean what sort of procedure is it when the guy can just go home and the testers go 'oh well we won't bother with him then' - on one of the very rare occasions they actually test someone. It makes it absolutely worthless. We're already aware that a lot of the footballers take recreational drugs anyway and given that it's no surprise they never get caught. I'd imagine a good number of them are on steroids.

Garry O'Connor being named wasn't a shock at all. There's been rumours around Edinburgh for years concerning him and white powder going up his nose.

It's funny though. The guy made some probably misguided comments but the statement from the club is very strongly worded. I mean as duffer mentioned he is entitled to his views, however wacky they may appear. All the conspiritorial minded folk out there would read those comments as being so strongly worded because the Illuminati would not want light shone on their organisation. The Pool are just toeing the party line man!!

There are obvious, entirely sane reasons for the club to frown on such statements, but for the club to disapprove so heavily, yet explain themselves so vaguely just feeds into the nutty mentality that causes people to believe in stuff like secret shadowy societies controlling the world via proxy in the first place.

Beckham's near universally beloved (now) and he ticks all the other boxes. Although he was national enemy #1 after the 1998 WC.
