World Cup Super 8 Match vs New Zealand

New Zealand won the toss and batted first on a pitch with no help for the seamers, the CWers playing Hing ahead of Dong.

Phlegm started his spell well, bowling a maiden for his second over, and more importantly struck in his third as Fleming (12 off 16) edged to slip. Papps and McMillian looked to attack, and put on 28 in just 3.2 overs before Papps smeared a Winne delivery straight upwards. The kiwis reached 49/2 after the first 10.

Corrin came on in the 16th over and got McMillan to top-edge his third ball, but Dharan dropped a regulation chance. He and Oram progressed well against the spinners, with both men raising fifties and the hundred partnership coming up in the 30th over.

With the score on 151/2 after 31, Winne came back on and broke the stand, McMillian (63 off 85) pulling his second ball to Hing in the deep. Oram made 68 off 80 before Capone trapped him lbw in the 38th. The match was well poised going into the last 10 overs, the score on 186/4.

Corrin struck for the CWers when his final ball got through Astle, bowling him for 10. Winne got Fulton the same way for 20 off 27 in his final over, but McCullum and Franklin countered well. They put on 21 in 2.4 overs before McCullum was caught behind off Phlegm for 10 off 11. After 45 the score was 222/7.

Capone yorked Gillespie in the next over, but CW's death bowlers failed to finish the New Zealanders off. Late hitting from Franklin (24* off 19) and (21* off 19) just pushed the score past the 250 mark - the CWers would chase 255 to win.

The chase got off to an excellent start. Heads and Dharan were confident and reached their 50 partnership in the 11th over. Heads was the major aggressor, and when Dharan smashed three boundaries in a Gillespie over he missed the sixth ball of it. He was bowled for 44 off 54, but CW had reached 84/1 after the first 15.

Ballich joined Heads at the crease as the 100 came up, and Heads raised his 50 soon after from 45 balls. Three balls later he was gone, Gillepsie picking up a second wicket. From there New Zealand fought their way back into the game Spark and Ballich were tied down, putting on only 16 in seven overs, before Franklin hit Spark's stumps, the number four departing for 8 off 25.

It was a collapse. Ballich was run out for 19 off 53, and with the CWers desperate to catch up with the rate, Oram picked up both Ikram and Winne, bowled for single figures. CW were in serious trouble at 149/6 after 36 overs. The recovery came from Narang and Corrin as the pair put on 32 in six overs, and CW had a chance if they could up the scoring - 74 were needed from 7 overs.

They couldn't afford to lose a wicket, however, and the game was up when Narang hit Tuffey to point - he'd gone for 33 off 40. Oram was the man to clean up as he got both Hing and Capone in the 46th over, and Corrin was the last man out, caught off Gillespie. In the end it wasn't even close.

New Zealand won by 51 runs

World Cup Super 8 Match vs West Indies

Dean was given a game in place of Hing as the CWers batted first.

Heads was the first wicket to go, departing for an unusally sedate 17 from 29 when he nicked Best to slip. Dharan was able to pick up the slack from the other end though, and Cw had made a good start at 45/1 after 9 overs.

The second wicket stand started slowly, but a nine-ball, 16-run over from Ryan Hinds boosted the score to 87/1 after the first 15. CW were not allowed to get away, and Dharan was bowled by Jeremy for 38 off 40. After the score had passed 50, Hinds returned to have Spark out for his second successive single-figure score. CW stumbled to 103/3 after 20.

Ballich played positively but fell short of his half century, departing for 46 off 50 balls. Ikram was next to go when he ran himself out attempting to get off the mark with a risky two, and once again Winne came in with a rescue job needed.

From 123/5 in the 35th over, Winne and Narang put on 62 in 12 overs. Dwayne Bravo eventually broke the stand when Winne miscued a drive to mid-on, but Narang was the key going into the final 10 overs. CW were 189/6, with Narang on 40* from 48.

CW's seventh wicket pair were able to lift CW up to the score they needed. Narang raised his half century from 57 balls and made his way to 75* at a run a ball. Corrin was tied down more than he would have liked for his 30* from 39, but still played a good supporting role. CW finished with a healthy 251/6 on the board.

CW's good score was made to look daunting when CW's seamers put the Windies under early pressure. Phlegm got the early wicket of Gayle in his second over, and Winne adding to his batting performance with a maiden first up amongst an opening spell of 4-1-7-0.

Devon Smith was the main recipient of the boeling and after 43 balls of failing to time a ball, Capone trapped him lbw for 18. West Indies were 32/2 in the 12th over, and already needing nearly a run a ball. Sarwan looked to catch up with the rate but Chanderpaul was tied down, and departed for 27 off 44 when he edged Corrin behind.

That brought Lara to the crease at 81/3, and with Sarwan having got to 30 at a run a ball, this seemed like the key partnership. The Guyanese bat was playing beautifully, taking 16 off a Corrin over to move to his half century, but the leggie came back strongly in the next over to have Sarwan lbw. He'd made 57 off 41, and the West Indies were 110/4 at the half way stage.

Lara was not coming to the rescue, as a fierce turner from Corrin had him bowled or 5 off 15. Ikram was the benefactor of a moment of madness from Baugh, as the wicketkeeper skied a slog to midwicket. Hinds and Bravo attempted a recovery, their slow partnership of 33 presumably intended to see off the spinners.

It was not to be as Corrin completed his sensational all-round match. The stand was broken when Corrin got a top edge from Hinds through to the keeper, and the leggie made his last over a maiden, signing off with figures of 10-1-45-4.

West Indies were miles adrift, needing 102 from the final 15 with only three wickets remaining. Bravo's resistance looked to have ended when Capone hit his leg stump, but the left-armer had overstepped. It didn't matter too much, as two balls later it really was the end for Bravo as Capone trapped him lbw.

The final two wickets fell soon after, Winne cleaning up the tailenders to complete an ecxellent all-round match for him, and for his side.

CW won by 82 runs

Have a really good all round match but Corrin has even better one.

Looks like we should sneak through.

Yeah I should probably the post the updated table before a match, rather than after, considering the extra info we get with an extra few matches.
