Totally unsold on Kieswetter being up to International level in either form of the game, but given the lack of other opening options it probably makes sense in the medium term, unless of course you go back to Davies.

Just watching the highlights now. I think the track appears to be so much of a turnip patch that it's far too slow to judge anyone's ability against the short ball on it.
Davies just hits too many balls at a catchable height through the off-side for mine. I like the fact that he scores quickly without having to play super extravagant shots, which I think that Keiswetter has to rely on a bit much, but I'm not sold on either of them. Six of one, etc.

So does anyone else think Nasser should apologise for his 'donkey' comment?

Personally I was disgusted by it and think he should apologise immediately on air tomorrow......

to all donkeys across the world compared to Parthiv Patel!

I still think Davies deserves a run somewhere at sometime, but Flower obviously doesn't really rate him that highly. The way he was discarded in Australia was absurd.

He is a wonderful timer of a cricket ball and his List A opening record is amazing.

I wouldn't be shocked if he gets dropped as back-up Test keeper for this Winter as well, despite bagging 1000 runs at over 40 this season and showing an ability to bat from 1-6.

From Cricinfo -

England win the toss, and Cook has decided to bowl. There's a bit of cloud cover and England expect the juice to help them. Graeme Swann is out injured, Samit Patel is their main spin option. Ben Stokes is playing too.
The big news for India is that Tendulkar is not playing. A groan emanates from the crowd the moment MS Dhoni reveals this. The wait for the 100th ton continues then. Ajinkya Rahane will get an ODI debut today. India's top three - Rahane, Parthiv and Dravid - weren't in the World Cup squad. Neither was Praveen Kumar or Vinay Kumar. This is Bizarroworld.

I'm hearing there's no Tendulkar and no Swann this morning.
c'd. England win the toss and bowl - looks like a grey, wet day in Durham. Hoping for a similar story to the first ODI against SL.

Ben Stokes is playing too, Bopara out.

Sachin had a slight toe problem which he had been carrying for a year or 2, and which has now got inflamed according to Harsha Bhogle.

Will see a surgeon on Monday which could possibly, mean another big injury blow for India this tour. :(

The crowd not too happy about Sachin not playing.

I really hope they can get in Badrinath now and have Dravid and Rahane opening for all the games.. Just no point playing Patel.

Rather see Badrinath getting a test call up than ODI's tbh.

Stupid selectors drop him for Tests when he doesn't look good in ODI's. Don't want it happening again.

I think they should have told Mukund to stick around tbh. Was acclimatized to the conditions too and has a very good List A record. But i am convinced the Indian selectors aren't the brightest lot with no common sense after this tour.

Can't get excited about this series at all. Looking forward to the Sri Lanka v Aus 2nd test much more.

Obviously want us to win but all has an after lord mayor's show feel about it. Plus Taylor should be in squad, wouldn't have dropped the dolly Stokes did anyway.:p

For the position he's playing, I'd like Buttler more.
