Right, just been in the car for the duration of the T20 game. Is it worth watching the re-run on Sky at midnight?

Def had its moments. Felt a bit formulaic at times, like a lazily plotted romcom. England and the win always looked destined for each other, inexplicably drift apart and then Sammy plays the "mad dash to the airport" innings and our heroes are reunited.

LOL. Summarise me Ravi's role and I'm sold.

The smug ex who tries to spoil the happy ending, waiting to see the girl on the other end of the plane trip that she's about to embark on.

Why do we need 2 openers, Kieswetter had done alright for England and we've just debuted a young lad that will if given time, prove a good player.
Did the opening bowler and opening batsman bit not give it away?

Hence the 2 openers comment. 1 a bowler, 1 a batsman. As I'm still fairly OK with Kieswetter as our T20 keeper.

Just feel we lack the control of a Sidebottom early on with the ball.

Totally unsold on Kieswetter being up to International level in either form of the game, but given the lack of other opening options it probably makes sense in the medium term, unless of course you go back to Davies.

Just watching the highlights now. I think the track appears to be so much of a turnip patch that it's far too slow to judge anyone's ability against the short ball on it.

Jade Dernbach - The New Malinga?

Great we may have uncovered a limited overs specialist bowler! Means we can rest the Test bowlers more often, if the likes of Dernbach, Shahzad, Finn and Onions can fill ODI and T20I roles!

My bad mate but still people have been asking for the young guys to be given a crack, so lets give Hales a crack, he'll get more of a chance against the WI later onto hopefully show what he's about. Hales seemed to be hugely nervous all night I thought and he'll be better for the experience.

Bresnan usually gives that control at the start and Broad's usually very good but early on, I felt they all looked like they were a bit short of match practice for limited overs cricket and it took time for them to readjust from the longer form of the game.
With Stoke coming in and being able to bowl and Ravi dropping out, I quite like the look of the side.

I actually thought Kieswetter had improved a bit from last year, with his technique looking that bit tighter after his work with Thorpey and in the SL series he showed he could play a few more shots than before. He's got a excellent record in List A for somerset and averages 5 points more than Davies so like you say we have to give him a run in the side.
It's the first time in a fair while I noticed a mistake behind the stumps from him and he got a bit lucky with the stumping as well.

Kes in the subcontinent or anything slow, low and the less lateral movement the better = runs and big runs. Painful watching him on anything else. Made to look a bit of a clown against the Irish medium pacer and he could be Kumar's bitch here. Still think England should persist with him. If he fails in the winter in conditions which he should enjoy, then have a rethink.

Hmm. If you look at it from a 'building to the World Cup' perspective, the next one is in Australia and I don't think he's going to score many runs opening there regardless so I'd be looking to find a real opener (I'd suggest Bell but a top three of Bell-Cook-Trott in ODIs would be hilarious) and try out Buttler.

England's first chav cricketer?

KP only has the aesthetics of one.
Mascarenhas IMHO; anyone who wears a gold sleeper in each year qualifies. S'not 1987.

Although, given his background, he might qualify as a "bogan" rather than a chav.
