5 cricketers of the century and a bit?

Outswinger@Pace

International 12th Man
Since I bumped this thread yesterday, might as well answer the question.

(players of the 19th century not considered)

1. Gary Sobers
2. Imran Khan
3. Don Bradman
4. Richard Hadlee
5. Muttiah Muralitharan

Could slip in two more alongside Murali, but I'm sticking by the rules. Only five cricketers, gentlemen! :D

haha.....tbf slipping in more than one player in the number 5 position helps to explain the moods at different times of the wek :p

Your list is consistent with some of the trends on this forum (for certain groups of posters) that you rate all rounders quite highly

DOnt think I ever named my top 5:

The Don
Sobers
Imran
Sachin
Warne (personally dont like the bugger and think there r like a dizen bowlers better but cant ignore his impact)

I did feel that Warne in 96 didn't deserve that crown. But now having followed all his career I think he should be there

Bradman
Imran Khan
Gary Sobers
Richards/Tendulkar
Warne/Murali

I am undecided between the 4 and 5 positions.
And you have been going around saying Tendulkar is India's 3rd best batsman. Can't make up your mind? :p

That was a while back actually. Before I read many of ikki's posts tbh .....and I mean seriously if there is one guy who came down in my estimation after reading Ikki's posts it was Tendy.

tbf This list of mine also took into account the impact of the players on the game so you might see a bit different list each time except for maybe the top 3

Edit: Also add Sobers to the list of players successfully denigrated by Ikki

I feel that Gilchrist deserves to be there.

And - completely out on a limb here - if a few, admittedly big, boxes are ticked in the next couple of years, Sehwag could well make it in future installments of this endeavour. He has completely redefined opening in tests, and the effects of this are still to be realised and appreciated fully.
I think you'll find there have been a number of players in that position who have also either scored big runs or failed completely

Cricket's about batting, bowling and fielding. So I'd go with:

1. Bradman
2. Sobers
3. Khan
4. Marshall
5. Guptill

Upon some reflection however, I might drop Guptill for Warne.
