*Official* Third Test at Edgbaston

Has there been anything so far to suggest that this isn't a very typical sluggish, feather bed pitch that Edgbaston is known for?

I remember Durham beating Warwickshire here a year or two back and it was their first 4-day home defeat for umpteen games, largely because most of the games had been drawn.

Qurte a bit of cloud-cover, but 224 was about 150 short, IMHO. No devils here.

Based on the few minutes I've been watching I'm a bit surprised that India got blown out so quickly. Certainly doesn't look like an insert wicket - maybe there was movement in the air this morning.

Why's Strauss wearing a black armband - has he got a lot of investments in electrical outlets?

Well, there haven't been too many Tests drawn at Edgbaston. I think the pitch is just what a Test pitch should be. Something in it for all.

It's to mourn someones death.

No, not really. It's painfully slow. India could yet get a draw out of this.
Haha. Where are the runs going to come from? Dhoni has had his one knock of the tour, we have a four man tail and Tendulkar looks painfully poor. Not to mention Raina's problems against the short ball and fact Sehwag will be in for about 20 balls maximum.

Mishra is going to get tonked so badly when he comes on. He has been in dreadful form.

I'm looking forward to the no balls personally. I cannot apprehend how a spinner can bowl as many no balls as he bowled against Somerset.

Awsome day for England yet again, great to see the openers take the polish off the ball and get some runs.Very similar day in a lot of ways to the 2nd Ashes test at Adelaide.
Where England took early wickets and put Aus in a whole and then a bit of fight to get Aus to 240 odd.
Then England bat and finish the day unbeaten and the pitch looks placid when England are batting on it.

Fantastic day. Dhoni was very good but India were poor. Surrendering #1 as meekly as the Aussies did at The Oval in 2009.

India under 270 paying $1.83

Get on it lads

Under 223 at $3.25 looks tempting too
224ao. Ouch. Hope you put your $s on the former.

If England win and Bresnan continues to do well then I think it has to be Tremlett who misses out
Yeah, as harsh as it is, you can't leave Bres out. 11 wickets at less than 15 apiece in three innings is world class by any estimation. Add in 101 runs to boot.

Adds to the impression Tremmers is just a terribly unlucky player, but those are the breaks.

Similar to where England were after being inserted in the 2nd Test. Be interesting to see how the last 3 wickets for India go now. I suspect there will be a clatter of quick runs.
Ha, uncanny.

Anyway, professional stuff from England for the most part. I've no doubt words will be said about the runs added by Dhoni and the tail, it's those little flaws that give the coaching staff something to work at improving after all, but I'd have certainly taken 224 after putting the oppo in, especially when 84 have already been knocked off without loss.

I'm taking some credit for today's success too; I brought Sehwag into my Fantasy Team and took the captaincy off Cook. A golden blob for the former & expect a ton from the Essex man tomorrow.
