Neil Carter WAG - another bloke turning in a performance on his first appearance of the summer.

That said, has Liverpool been a low scoring ground this season?

Fantastic.

How refreshing to see Hampshire bowl over 100 overs in the day v Yorkshire. Even more impressive when you consider that it is 310-3 in the 102nd over, could easily have slowed it right down after tea and only bowled 96 with things not going well.

About time we had a decent opening day, nearly every game this year Yorkshire has been on the back foot.
Brilliant to have Rudolph back, now they have to try to sign him for next year, as a overseas player.
Finally McGrath has scored some runs, he was and tbh still could be looking like a spent force.

Well we clearly do not want to get another points deduction...

Anyway am now pretty convinced we will not win a single game in the championship this season.

Selfishly I hope not as we've still got to play you twice (and France twice - will they allow us the points to overhaul Lancashire?)

Chirs Woakes being great again I see, not that he has any chance of getting into the England side right now, no matter what he does.

Monty has 3/8 against Somerset. Having a hell of a season, he is now second in the top wicket takers list of Division One.

Durham have taken 4 wickets in 5 balls (with both Onions and Thorp on a hattrick, although neither completed it). Notts 25/4 after Durham scored 351 in their first innings.

Well we'll take 2 to SL at least and possibly Fatit Patel as a third or Briggs/Borthwick to get a taste of being round the squad. Whether we use them depends on how the pitches look.

Would imagine 2 will go to the Pakistan leg of the winter tour as well though have no idea how those pitches will play.

We'll need two in case Swann gets injured for a start.

Beyond that, the pitches are usually hopeless for our quicks, especially when they're having to run in with temperatures as high as they will be. If the SL attack is anything like what it was over here, I'd play five bowlers, with two of them being spinners.

Nice fightback by Lancs after conceding a healthy first innings defecit. Hopefully we can get the lead over 300. Decent knock from Croft

Just got in after being incommunicado all afternoon - great to see that for once Lanky's batting has fired - just hope the rain keeps away tomorrow
