In terms of Watching too, would take the 90'S Tendulkar.

A combination of textbook technique and flair -"Textbook Flair" if you like. Was a treat to watch live in the grounds too.

Whilst I did vote for Sachin, I would rather watch Dravid bat, controversial as that may be. Just has so much time and class. For someone who's primarily a defensive batsman he has the most gorgeously deft touch.
Not remotely controversial.

I've always preferred watching Dravid to Sachin, owing to Dravid's watertight technique against the McGraths/Pollocks/Donalds in seamer-friendly conditions and due to him exhibiting immense powers of concentration in cutting out extravagant shots.

I do admit I'm biased in this regard, since I can watch Kallis bat all day as well.

For me, Sehwag in terms of watching them. Flair far more watchable than textbook correctness IMO.
Think that's mildly harsh on Dravid. He is a very correct player, yes, but his late cuts are things of wonder.

So pleased he's got a second wind as a test player, he really is one of nature's gentlemen. Class act in every regard.

unless he doesn't count as an Indian player surely Ranji is worth a mention? Few if any players have changed the game as much as he did, before him there basically wasn't any leg side play. Merchant and Hazare surely in with honourable mentions. Still, I guess its impossible to argue against Tendulkar.

Disagree. Are Gavaskar and Dravid that far off? No. Sehwag...well it depends how you rate his SR.

I'd say he is better than all of them but incomparable - to the point that it'd be trolling? Nope. I can see a decent argument for both Dravid and Gavaskar actually.
yeah.......it is ridiculous to suggest that there is so much difference in the performance of Dravid, Gavaskar, and Sachin that any comparison would be trolling
Slightly to my surprise the person I expected to cause grief in this thread hasn't, so I won't elaborate further, suffice it to say that my tongue was firmly in my cheek when I made the trolling comment

Sachin its by a distance however Dravid 02-06 is probably the most immovable batsman in test cricket history so happy to see him get runs in this series.

Interesting you mention McGraths/Pollocks/Donalds. Do check how many hundreds Dravid has against them. As good as Dravid is, he also benefits when it comes to being judged from the textbook technique that appears impentrable and gets excused for his not so stellar record against the aforementioned fast bowlers, the best of Dravid's generation. Not the ability to play quality fast bowling, but dogged determination and concentration is where he might beat Tendulkar.

Dravid at his peak had a better technique for the moving ball(seam and swing) i think(not by much though), but Sachin had a better technique for dealing with variations in pace(extra pace or extremely slow tracks) and bounce(uneven bounce, extra bounce, low bounce) plus Sachin has always been better at playing spin.
