*Official* First Test at Lord's

I mean saying anyone doesn't deserve to be #1 based on one Test is a bit odd. It's like saying Centurion proves India don't deserve to be #1 - well, clearly they do, otherwise they wouldn't be.
England are not no. 1 yet and if they don't win tomorrow, then there is a reason why they are not. And If India are no. 1 and they end up somehow drawing the test, there will be some doubters ( who believe that India do not deserve to be at the top) will convert and start believing that. And If India do not draw the test, their doubts will be somewhat justified

If England draw this Test but still end the series as #1 they will be the rightful #1. Conversely, if India lose this Test but come back to stop England being #1 they will be the rightful #1 holders. You cannot decide these things on the basis of one Test.

What a moronic response. Rubbish is what you post now a days. The above is just an example of what you are upto these.
Moronic response hey, I called you post rubbish and it is,how can you seriously say, if England don't win this test, they don't deserve the NO1 ranking, what kind of logic is that. They won't get the No1 ranking from winning this test, they get it for winning the series by 2 tests, so we will know at the end if they deserve it.
Apart from that, how is what I post rubbish, I've never had a conversation with you, or ever replied to one of your posts, before this, so stop having a tantrum. Showing yourself as a real class act mate.

Well assuming( although it is tough to think that they wont) that they do not win tomorrow, I do not think they will end the series as No. 1 team in the world.

Andrew Strauss said that they are ready to be no. 1 team and for that claim to have any credibility, they should be able to beat a half fit indian team.

England are ready to be world No1 Test side, says Andrew Strauss | Sport | The Guardian

All of it is my opinion ofcourse, If you don't agree find but Please this does not mean I am posting rubbish.

I am sure that is how start your conversation with people in real life you don't agree with. You call their opinion as rubbish and walk away without offering any explanation and then you expect that person to show some class when you yourselves have shown none of it in your conversation.

TBH, I don't care what you post and I have no interest in conversing with people like yourself.

It's a public forum bud, if someone post illogical nonsense, I will call them out on it, if you can't deal with that, hard lines.

As for your last sentence, I'm sure I'll get by.

don't think we'll draw this. but if we do, that'll be sweet considering how depleted we are wrt the injuries and illnesses. everything that could go wrong has gone wrong for us in this test. doesn't bother me as long as we put a fight.

If these guys can bat for few hours tomorrow, I am sure we will have a decent chance to draw assuming that Tendulkar and Gambhir will be able to bat.

Err, no we shouldn't. In the unlikely event that India go for it, and England think India might have a shot, they'll shut it down. Defensive fields, bowling outside, taking time to bowl, etc. So there is no chance of an Indian victory - going for it can only hurt India.

That has nothing to do with dominance though.

You can dominate a team and still not play as well as a team who actually loses a game against a better team.
But we're not talking about a one off match - if you're a dominant side in world cricket, chances are you're playing extremely well - and on a consistent basis.

Yeah, I would say anything other than their normal game is going to hurt India. Too Defensive or Going for a win means an easy England win.

The news about Gambhir is positive, X-rays have been negative and he is likely to bat.

You must be reading the same dictionary as Bun, because that's not what dominant means.

A dominant side is one which simply dominates their opponent. Because a side is dominant it doesn't neccessarily have anything to do with the overall quality of the outfit, it just states that they are better than their particular opponent.

The fact that the WI/Australia won a higher percentage of games doesn't neccessarily mean they are a better quality team than India/England now, it could just mean that the opponents they faced were weaker.

I was passing comment on the fact that the standard of cricket we've seen in the last few years is very poor from the top teams, relatively speaking

Yeah there's no real doubt about that. Consider the standard of fielding alone - several easy chances missed by both sides and some atrocious ground fielding yesterday.
