I see the English media has already billed this as the contest between the top 2 Cricketing sides. I wonder how South Africa feel about being shoved aside like that.

This is up there with the "England are gonna win the world-cup this time" routine the media subjects us to in practically all the sports they compete in....

I can't read anything on the English media these days without cringing.

I look forward to seeing them fall on their arse.....again (as usual). It gives me hope!

England will never be number 1 test playing nation again. I say that with quite a bit of confidence. If and when India relinquish the top spot, it will be to South Africa or some other worthy nation. What have England won...ever? Exactly my point. They are the perennial losers in every sport they compete in. It's in their blood.
Yeah but Eng in tests is much better then Eng in ODIs and I would say there's not much to separate them and SA in tests. IMO Eng have a more balanced attack then SA's and their batting is perhaps only slightly weaker.

Oh and I forgot about your ability to see into the future and state that England will NEVER be a no.1 test playing nation... Anymore psychic comments? Like what are the numbers for next weeks lottery and who's winning the Superbowl next year?

Holy **** you're right, they are perennial losers.. I mean I don't think they've ever won a rugby or football world cup!

Funny how they'll apparently never be number 1 yet a series win against India would make them do this and that is definitely not out of the question.

Mate can you not read? Kingjulian say they will never be number 1, and he says it with confidence  That's as good as gold, England will never be number one.

Jules actually works for the ICC; he's going to make minor tweaks to the formula all the time to stop England claiming top spot.

He's also immortal, so he'll be able to do this forevermore.

Oh look...here is an Englishman who can read.

Yes, i don't think England will win, which, funnily enough, is the reason i posted in the thread
titled "Who's gonna win"...take a hike if you don't like my opinion.

You are entitled to your opinion, but I’m sure you can express yourself without the unnecessary baiting of English posters. Please refrain from this style of posting in the future.

England to win 2-0 with the weather spoiling things for two Tests.

The same iffy weather will bring overcast conditions and Jimmy will swing the ball around corners both ways and bamboozle the much-heralded Indian batting line up.

Cook will again be the top run scorer I think, proving he makes a good re-adjustment back to Tests from ODIs.

dude you missed the point..........Afridi has the most sixes in history probably......doesn't make him a great batsman.........my contention was with Yuvraj being a good batsman because he hits a lot of sixes. I was not contending the fact that he does not hit sixes.
I was being sarcastic. :p

At the start of the English summer I would have said that England start as clear favourites but now things aren't looking that obvious. A pretty ordinary Sri Lankan batting line-up who are known to struggle in tests away from home really made the English bowlers work hard for their wickets and their task against the strong Indian line-up would be even more tougher.

India's problem is that they just don't seem to have that firepower in their bowling stocks to take 20 English wickets so the advantage their batting provides might get neutralized due to that. Though you would still expect England to put in some good bowling performances over the course of 4 test matches which might eventually hand them a series win, but if they fail to do so then we might see a lot of boring runs fests.
