aren't we granting him a little too much credit regarding skill for that? can't be easy to ensure a 100 there against a decent attack.Well said shivfan. Poor behaviour from Sachin to skip this tour because he wants his 100th ton to be at Lord's.
and i will pull my finger out and pay attention!Tongue is firmly in cheek
has never scored even a 50 at lords.....aren't we granting him a little too much credit regarding skill for that? can't be easy to ensure a 100 there against a decent attack.
By that definition, every player who played IPL, or county cricket, or whatever else outside of international matches should be on your list because they all risked injury by playing cricket.3) Gautam Gambhir - ill-advisedly risked injury playing IPL, and got injured, and so missed WI tour. Clearly, IPL was more important to him.
4) Zaheer Khan - played IPL, missed Caribbean tour.
5) Virender Sehwag - ill-advisedly risked injury playing IPL, and got injured, and so missed WI tour. Clearly, IPL was more important to him.
.
You can't really put MSD on that list, because let's face it, the test series is the important part and he has played (albeit not that well) in all the tests. And tbh a weakened team leads to a more competitive and interesting series does it not?Come on, England!
As a WI fan, I usually quite like Indian cricket, and would normally be neutral during a series like this. But the level of contempt shown by Indian cricketers towards the Test and/or ODI tour of the Caribbean has so soured the feelings of me and a number of my friends (also WI fans) that we'll all be cheering for England this series....
Yes, WI cricket is crap these days, but we certainly didn't need a number of Indian 'stars' to rub our noses in it. The fact that they did means that we'll be cheering every time a certain Indian player is bowled, or a certain Indian bowler is hit for six.
Here's our blacklist:
1) Sachin Tendulkar - missed both Test and ODI series, and yet found time to play IPL.
2) MS Dhoni - played the Tests, but chose to miss the ODI series, and yet found time to play the IPL.
3) Gautam Gambhir - ill-advisedly risked injury playing IPL, and got injured, and so missed WI tour. Clearly, IPL was more important to him.
4) Zaheer Khan - played IPL, missed Caribbean tour.
5) Virender Sehwag - ill-advisedly risked injury playing IPL, and got injured, and so missed WI tour. Clearly, IPL was more important to him.
6) Yuvraj - not convinced that his respiratory infection was so bad that he had to miss the entire Test and ODI tour of the Caribbean. It was very convenient that he could play the entire IPL and is now fit to play in England.
We will all be cheering any time any of those six fare badly....
Our commiserations to Kohli and Vijay, who had the courage to tour the Caribbean, but suffered as a result, and didn't make the tour of England. Yuvraj benefitted from the selectors by avoiding facing the fire of Rampaul and Edwards.
We're all united in acknowledging Rahul Dravid as our favourite Indian batsman, with Laxman a close second, and we hope this duo does well. Good luck also to Mukund, if he gets a chance.
And may Harbhajan, Munaf, Ishant and Praveen all get wickets....
But in the end, we really hope England wins.
let him hate all, more hate the betterYou can't really put MSD on that list, because let's face it, the test series is the important part and he has played (albeit not that well) in all the tests. And tbh a weakened team leads to a more competitive and interesting series does it not?
While I agree on your point regarding Dhoni, sending a severely weakened team is fairly patronising and the fans want to see the best play, not some 2nd string side. You can't really put MSD on that list, because let's face it, the test series is the important part and he has played (albeit not that well) in all the tests. And tbh a weakened team leads to a more competitive and interesting series does it not?
lol........this is sigworthyI think India will win as they have been so good for so long now. They have Raina and Yuvraj who are great players and hit lots of sixers.
Come on, England!
