3) Gautam Gambhir - ill-advisedly risked injury playing IPL, and got injured, and so missed WI tour. Clearly, IPL was more important to him.
4) Zaheer Khan - played IPL, missed Caribbean tour.
5) Virender Sehwag - ill-advisedly risked injury playing IPL, and got injured, and so missed WI tour. Clearly, IPL was more important to him.
.
By that definition, every player who played IPL, or county cricket, or whatever else outside of international matches should be on your list because they all risked injury by playing cricket.

And secondly if you think Yuvraj would give up on his chance to finally cement his Test spot on purpose.

Come on, England!

As a WI fan, I usually quite like Indian cricket, and would normally be neutral during a series like this. But the level of contempt shown by Indian cricketers towards the Test and/or ODI tour of the Caribbean has so soured the feelings of me and a number of my friends (also WI fans) that we'll all be cheering for England this series....

Yes, WI cricket is crap these days, but we certainly didn't need a number of Indian 'stars' to rub our noses in it. The fact that they did means that we'll be cheering every time a certain Indian player is bowled, or a certain Indian bowler is hit for six.

Here's our blacklist:

1) Sachin Tendulkar - missed both Test and ODI series, and yet found time to play IPL.
2) MS Dhoni - played the Tests, but chose to miss the ODI series, and yet found time to play the IPL.
6) Yuvraj - not convinced that his respiratory infection was so bad that he had to miss the entire Test and ODI tour of the Caribbean. It was very convenient that he could play the entire IPL and is now fit to play in England.

We will all be cheering any time any of those six fare badly....

Our commiserations to Kohli and Vijay, who had the courage to tour the Caribbean, but suffered as a result, and didn't make the tour of England. Yuvraj benefitted from the selectors by avoiding facing the fire of Rampaul and Edwards.

We're all united in acknowledging Rahul Dravid as our favourite Indian batsman, with Laxman a close second, and we hope this duo does well. Good luck also to Mukund, if he gets a chance.

And may Harbhajan, Munaf, Ishant and Praveen all get wickets....

But in the end, we really hope England wins.
You can't really put MSD on that list, because let's face it, the test series is the important part and he has played (albeit not that well) in all the tests. And tbh a weakened team leads to a more competitive and interesting series does it not?

While I agree on your point regarding Dhoni, sending a severely weakened team is fairly patronising and the fans want to see the best play, not some 2nd string side.

I agree that those who had existing niggles continued in the IPL and picked up injuries as a result should not have taken part in the IPL, but I'm assuming they must have been under huge pressure from the BCCI or their team owners to play the games to bring in the crowds and get people to watch the games. Sehwag/Gambhir being the captains iirc would find it hard to simply say 'I fear I might get injured so I'll sit this one out'. That and the money obviously, no matter how you look at it, I doubt there are many in the world who will be so morally upright so as to pass up an opportunity of making that much money for a tour where they may not be needed by the country to win. It sounds harsh but thats reality I guess, pretty sure if any other team was in India's place the players might have done the same thing.

Although Indian team is in good form, but Indian are famous as Lions at their home, therefore, England has good chance to win the series.

I think India will win as they have been so good for so long now. They have Raina and Yuvraj who are great players and hit lots of sixers.

I see the English media has already billed this as the contest between the top 2 Cricketing sides. I wonder how South Africa feel about being shoved aside like that.

This is up there with the "England are gonna win the world-cup this time" routine the media subjects us to in practically all the sports they compete in....

I can't read anything on the English media these days without cringing.

I look forward to seeing them fall on their arse.....again (as usual). It gives me hope!

England will never be number 1 test playing nation again. I say that with quite a bit of confidence. If and when India relinquish the top spot, it will be to South Africa or some other worthy nation. What have England won...ever? Exactly my point. They are the perennial losers in every sport they compete in. It's in their blood.
