He can then claim the last match of that series at the Oval ,tbf:p

Bit of a silly argument.

Lol you couldn't even score more than 350 against a three person attack that included Sammy yet you're trying to claim a 2-0 victory. Give me a break.

Fantastic efforts by Chanderpaul and Edwards. Champions. Anyone saying the West Indies fans should be disappointed by the end result is kidding themselves. Trailing by over 100 runs and securing a draw is great stuff.

Not Terrible
Pretty poor effort for India to not have a got at it.

Should have just let the likes of Kohli and Raina have a bit of a dash IMO. Seems very strange that the number one team wouldn't take a pretty small risk against a team much weaker than them. NZ have been in a few circumstances similar to this in recent years and we've went for it fairly often, even McIntosh and Watling managed a few quick runs against Pakistan in the last session of a Test so why can't some of the finest limited overs batsman in the world?

Mind boggling that not a single Indian player showed any intent (besides maybe Vijay?).

Can not understand for the life of me why in the T20 and 300+ ODI era teams don't tinker with batting orders to have a dash at 6/7 runs an over on the fifth afternoon of a test match. I went to bed after the Chanderpaul century and the pitch was still flat as.

Agreed.

Tbf,they sent in Raina early to have a bit of a go ,but failed but could have sent up Kumar and Harbhajan too before playing for a draw.

There was not such a big risk of a loss even after that.

Why did they end the match with 86 (90)? Ugh. Not a fan of how teams (especially Dhoni) approach situations like this. I'd be happier with a 1-1 if India tried and failed - they shut shop too early.

Huh, well I'd say West Indies deserved the draw due to Chanderpaul and the two Edwards. They didn't have much luck this test, so this feels just.

Still, I stopped watching after Chander's century but I always felt it unlikely India would go for the win in this situation. Not Dhoni's style, and this is why I find it very hard to support India under his captaincy. Just find them unlikeable.

Not that there's anything wrong with being defensive, its just as a neutral its not fun to watch.

Whatever it takes!!!
Ah the usual India cricket haterz Vs Bun, Cevno.. Jeez cant we open a subforum for THAT? 8-)

Anyways, good stuff from India to win the series.. Won a test and almost won the second with a depleted team.

At the same time, excellent fight shown by the Windies.. Rampaul, Edwards, Taylor, Roach,Bishoo would be an attack with tremendous potential. Hope these guys stay off injury, are allowed to make good money via IPL or SLPL or whatever and go on to serve Windies cricket for a long time. And Chanders, what a pain in the rear for India. Bet he will be around doing this even when we tour here next time.. FFS.. Doesn't he get bored or something from all the India bashing? :@

What has SA has to do with it? Didn't they win it 2-0 and the drawn test was played on a road and SA didn't give WI an inch. The attitude of dragging other teams to justify India not going for the win is pathetic.
So? Of course they will be compared, it is the natural thing to do when you put a result into perspective.

As for not going for the win, it may or may not be pathetic, but it was always going to be a very long shot after Edwards and Chanders batted out more than a session. Asking Dravid and Laxman to manufacture shots against restrictive fields and negative lines is not worth it. They are not responsible for the neutral's entertainment, they are out there to ensure the best possible result for India.

It was a sluggish sort of pitch, not good for quick scoring, not good for bowling after the first 4-5 overs either.
