**Official** Sri Lanka in England / Scotland - 2011

They say that the square has been rotated by 90 degrees, so the pitch now runs across the line of all the old strips. Interseting to see how it plays.

Still playing T20 and ODs there, its only the CC games that are at Liverpool.

Anyway, Sri Lanka have been dreadful so far, but I can tell overs 20-40 are going to be painfull today
Fair enough, was under the impression that all the improvement works would make the ground unusable for the season.

Looks like it's England's turn for a huge win today.

Kieswetter dropped.
We'll see tbh. It could all easily fall apart in the middle. SL'll have to prove their standard by some orders of magnitude though.

A couple of nice shots from Kieswetter in that over.

These 2, have carried on where they left off, at Trent bridge.

That pitch looks absolutely dreadful.
Yeah, not playing anywhere near as badly as it looks like it should, but at first glance it's a ploughed field.

Lovely cut from Cook there, followed by a drive for 3.

SL bowling horribly this morning, even Malinga succumbing.

Yeah the pitch isn't playing anywhere near as badly as it looks (could it possibly?) but SL are bowling like an open sewer today.

There was turn for Dilshan but he wasted it by bowling loads of wides and long hops for three overs.

Quite so, but given how low/slow it was mooted to be, a front foot punch off a length ball through mid-off like Cook played shouldn't have been possible.

I don't think it's that slow. Just that there's turn there for the spinners.

It's played much like your typical OT pitch, actually.
