Wow, SL really have not learnt a thing about how to bowl at Alastair Cook. Full and on his pads is most definately NOT the place!

I was pointing out that the one-sided nature in this match comes from England using the swinging conditions far better. And that it has sod all to do with the pitch. There is a difference between swing and seam, and the former does not rely on the pitch.
It was nipping off the pitch pretty heavily as well, look at bresnan's bowling he was all seam. And in anycase all the swing went away after a dozen or so overs. And now the swing isn't there at all. And more importantly the wicket looks much drier & skiddier. Hell, england looked much less comfortable playing at lords where the pitch was supposed to be 280+ pitch.

It's almost laughable the extent to which Cook is a better batsman than Kieswetter. Sometimes it really is that simple. He's just a better batsman.

Fairly pathetic game, well done England, it's just a shame that Sri Lanka prefer not to play in any sort of testing conditions, I felt bad for Kumar, he had a real good chance to get his 100 up and Malinga did what Malinga did, this is a fairly horrible attack, I'd say the Irish bowlers are better than this well at least they try,

how many times do they need to bowl onto Cooks pads :(, still though England you can only beat what's put in front of you, well done ...

Speaking of Cook as we are, when I saw Chandimal's blob today I thought of the skipper's words after the 3rd ODI:

Alastair Cook said:
the cricketing gods may look at that in a bit of disgust.
He knows, you know. Has a direct line to them.

The commentators keep saying Kieswetter isn't used to this role, being the supposed attacking opener. I'm gonna say he's had to do it a fair number of times, considering he plays with Tresco at Somerset.

Edit: Having said that, he doesn't seem too keen on just tapping it for singles.

Think we can all agree Kieswetter looks a better limited overs fit than Matty, anyway.

Davies tho...

EDIT: 50 in the grand manner for the Anglo-Scottish Saffer.

Nice shot (heave) to get to 50 from Kieswetter. He's played very well today, playing second fiddle to the rampant Cook.
