EDIT: Yes, he picks from the scorecard allocated to him. Everyone else picks as per the draft flow.

That's the concern. As it stands it was a pretty average card to pick from, and "disappearing" shouldn't be rewarded.

Haven't really decided any change to that. I dont like it because it suddenly changes the position of the draft back a few paces. In my opinion, it should not affect the flow of the draft that much just because someone misses their turn.

For now I'd say he picks when he comes online. Wish no one would abuse the system though.
We could just say that a person who misses their go takes the second-choice pick from their original position, and doesn't interrupt the rest of the draft, so it's done as an aside.

For example, let's say Salman comes online at the end of the round.

Salman picks a player from the Barbados Test when he comes online, but everyone else carries on as though he didn't. So let's say Joe picked Imran Khan and put up a scorecard, then Salman could pick VVS Laxman from the original scorecard, and then Somerset could still pick Sunil Gavaskar from Joe picking Imran Khan.

That way the draft doesn't "reset" back to an old scorecard every time someone's late.

Here's the updated first post again guys. No more changes now ok, lets just shut up and pick.

How to play:

It's an all time test draft where each consecutive pick has to be a player that featured in a test the previous player played in, either in the same team or against.

Once the participants are all lined up and the order randomised, we'll start off with the latest Test being played, i.e. the last India - West Indies Test.

Participant 1 picks a player playing the Test, then Participant 2 picks a player that has played either with or against the player in a Test match at any point in time, providing a link to the appropriate scorecard as proof. It then carries on similarly in the pre determined order.

Example:

Participant 1 selects VVS Laxman and posts the scorecard: 2nd Test: West Indies v India at Bridgetown, Jun 28-Jul 2, 2011 | Cricket Scorecard | ESPN Cricinfo

Based on the above scorecard, Participant 2 cannot select Dhoni, Dravid or Rampaul because they are all in the same scorecard posted by Participant 1.

Participant 2 selects Steve Waugh and posts the scorecard where both Waugh and Laxman played in: 3rd Test: India v Australia at Chennai, Mar 18-22, 2001 | Cricket Scorecard | ESPN Cricinfo

Participant 3 selects Sunil Gavaskar and posts the scorecard that both Waugh and Gavaskar played in: 2nd Test: Australia v India at Melbourne, Dec 26-30, 1985 | Cricket Scorecard | ESPN Cricinfo

Rules:

- Any number of participants, 12 players can be picked, 12 hours between picks and 12 rounds.
- No Bradman.
- All players picked should have played a minimum of 10 tests.
- Players picked should have played at least 10 games after 1900.
- Only scorecards from post 1900 can be posted.
- The scorecards should be from ICC sanctioned Test matches involving Test nations only.
- If you miss your turn you have to make your pick from your allocated scorecard when you next come online. Other participants continue with the flow and the scorecards allocated to them.

Indeed.

However what about people like me who had to choose from such an ordinary scorecard? This works against me b/c I had to choose from such an ordinary scorecard..........

There should be something to offset this disadvantage

So we are all in agreement that I get Imran Khan and Salman picks from the Barbados test?

Yep, I edited my previous post while you were posting that.

I quite like it, means you're punished for missing your go (effectively have to pick the second best player from that scorecard) without disrupting the order of the rest of the draft.
I assumed that's what was meant anyway.

So let's say I missed my pick and Cevno picked Warne, Howe_zat picked Murali and then I came online. I'd still have to pick from the scorecard posted by smalishah, I just couldn't pick Warne, Murali etc.

That's part of the skill, picking one to make it hard for the next person.

But this just stops the next person going "meh" and not picking until they see a card they like.

Yep this is how it is now, rules updated, etc, etc..

Clarification needed: If the order is A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J... and participants D and E both don't show up in time, then obviously the game carries on with F going from C's card. Now, if E shows up, what card does he go from? Does he go from C's card? Or does he have to wait until D shows up and then go from his card?
