What's that suppose to mean and what the **** is ' sophomoric smugness'.
IMO it's a bit of disrespect towards the opposition, almost rubbing their faces in it. You said it yourself, ' He gave them a small opportunity', that's not how it works in Pro Sports, you don't want teams, doing you any favors, like I said it's disrespectful. You may not agree with what I just said but that's how I'd take it and I bet, it's how they did.
lt obviously didn't go too well with some of the SL dressing room, including the Captain also. Personally, personal milestones, take second place to getting the team over the line especially without taking any undue chances and it's clearly what they did, they took a chance to get someone a personal milestone. I suppose it all goes down to how much you rate personal milestones over the team.
I also reckon if England had of done the same thing, a few people would have had a complain about it also.
Matthews & Chandimal didn't give England a chance out of charity they gave a chance because they felt that chandimal getting to century was important. Had england been less whiny, & more aggressive, they would have gone after Sri Lanka during this period. That's what AUS, SA or even NZ would have done.England can't demand a quick death over chandimal's century which is exactly what they did. There was no disrespect their just a matter of priorities.

During the divine wrath inducing period of play SL went from needing 17 @ 2.42 rpo to 9 @ 3 rpo. I don't know how on earth that is an undue risk.

I can't see how anyone can blame them when they pulled it off successfully. Fair play to them. I remember they slowed it down a bit during the WC quarterfinal also, so that Tharanga could also reach his century.

I myself am more about team success than individual performance but if the alternatives offered by England are dick moves like Atherton declaring on Hick for 98, I'll happily choose to watch the occasional bit of personal glory over team.

LOL, we came out and batted about an over or two on day five at Cardiff so Bell could get his ton and the commentators weren't happy about that either

I'd had to go out by the time it happened yesterday so never saw it. Meh. I'd be fuming if my team did it even if it came off, not because of respecting the opposition but because you're risking defeat. Kinda wastes all the hard work the guy who's on 98* has done. Obviously it worked but that's not really the point.

I can't believe Spark hasn't been on long enough to have the benefits of our Dicko's wisdom.

Although check out my message wall for the full horror of what awaits the simple woodland folk of CW shortly...

Anyway, I'm gonna throw this out, but I don't think we can have Trott and Cook in the same ODI side when we have a tail that starts at #7. Discuss.
Bell and KP in the middle order with a tail that starts to #7 the more pressing issue, IMO. Find the issues that actually exist far more pressing that the issues that only appear to exist.

I cant completely understand why the England team are even involved in this at all? This has nothing at all to do with them. I find their reaction to this somewhat amusing.

Was quite funny listening to the commentators say "the senior player has no idea what he is doing out there" when Mathews was pretty clear about what he was doing. A future captain indeed.

Lol disrespect. If you're getting owned that badly you can't expect your opponent to respect you.

Exactly....

It was such a comprehensive win for sri Lanka that they could afford to play out maidens in order for Chandimal to get his century. Instead of whinging about 'disrespect', England need to play better in order to earn respect.

He scored a 100 at a strikerate over 80 and batted 49 overs for his team. I'd say he's definitely done his job.

Agreed, totally. Also Dirtbag looks a hack. The oppo have already started to read his slower ball, which is all he's got going for him, IMHO.

Let's have a sweep on when Luke Wright returns to the side.

3rd ODI V India for my money.
