I meant in both tests and ODIs...
Anyways hardly anything to choose between those two guys' test stats imho... Harby has double the no. of 100s that Broad has ftr

We were talking about the Test team though which makes ODIs irrelevant.I meant in both tests and ODIs...
I added an edit to that post..We were talking about the Test team though which makes ODIs irrelevant.
No-one was suggesting Harbhajan be dropped for Broad though.Further the incremental gain from Broad's batting is nothing as compared to the gain from Harby's bowling...
Ah, well!Stuar Broad would be the third greatest Indian seamer of all time, behind Kapil Dev and Zaheer Khan.
I know he's no Manoj Prabhakar or Roger Binny, but still....Ah, well!
Plonk.
Now that you mention it Irfan Pathan wouldn't have been the worst of picks for this test series ,as i have said before.Ok, push come to shove, and we are mandated to lay a bowling allrounder, there are the likes of irfan parhan whom i'd prefer over broad anyday atm.
If you take out Pathan's bossing of Zim and Bang, he averages 45, with 39 of his 100 wickets against them, so it does make his record look at lot better than it is.Now that you mention it Irfan Pathan wouldn't have been the worst of picks for this test series ,as i have said before.
Would have required courage for the selectors but i would have picked him over Munaf.Showed he was getting his swing back in the IPL and troubled Sachin even.
And in swinging conditions he almost doubles in lethalness.
Actually his bowling average is still better than Ishant,Sreesanth and Broad despite him looking ordinary sometimes ,because when it swung he could run through teams.
He averages 31.57 with the bat too and though it would have been a gamble and taken courage with Praveen already there i would have picked him ahead of Munaf in the squad. Could have been a option for the number 7 slot too.
Yes, depending on his form atm he wouldn't make a bad back up at all, for the Indian side in conditions that suit.He would have been useful as a all round backup in swinging conditions though.
And besides he was very effective in certain conditions in other series too like against Pakistan away,Srilanka and SA at home and was MOTM in ther perth test that ended Aussies unbeaten winning streak when it swung.
He also just completely lost it for a period which made it look worse.
Besides he is by no means the only bowler to have faced either Zimbabwe or Bangladesh too.
Happy to put Australia's record for producing spinners up against India's for producing fast bowlers.heard he's started bowling spin as a pasttime. also last heard aus govt was pursing giving him a hon citizenship,
You're getting a tad shrill here mate.atlease we weren't desperate enough to debut 35 yr old offciegoers....
srinath ishant sree pk munaf etc etc. You're getting a tad shrill here mate.
Name me, say, 5 post-1990 Indian seamers definitively better than Broad then.
And I'll grant two automatically - Dev (though he was getting to the end) and Zaheer Khan.
