Interesting stat: Cook's hundred came off 127 balls.

Mahela's was off 118.

He is the last of the recognised batsmen I would criticise today.
Same here, but it's always hilarious watching someone completely unsuited to slogging trying to slog.

Well yeah, obviously. But as ODI hundreds go they don't get an awful lot worse than this one. I still don't understand how he managed to not get out to Kula early on.

Cook. :notworthy

His form and temperament are truly immense right now. Run out now.
Spot the guy who didn't watch the innings :p.

Broad only averages 12 with the bat in ODI cricket? Thought it'd be a bit more than that. That's a proper tailender-type average.

Hadn't realised how abject Broad's ODI batting record is.

He's ahead of Swann why?

Feck, Bres goes. Full and straight.

Averages misleading below 7, because in most cases they come out in slog mode. Mitch Johnson is another whose average is really low but obviously he can play a proper innings if needed.

In case everyone hasn't realised, Swann's average is piss too.

And Bresnan bowled off the pad and between the legs. Oops.

Johnson averages close to 20 with two 50's and a sr in the 90's. That's not low for a bowler.

Didn't watch it TBH... but if England win, his innings will have been the difference right? He's given his team a chance even if it wasn't the prettiest of knocks. Can't ask for more. Seems a bit churlish to criticize him when there are so many others who deserve it before him..

It's not just his average, it's that he strikes at 71 too. At least Swann scores not many at 83.

& 10 off the last two balls from the great man to back me up.

Haha Swanneh!!!

Truly woeful effort, though, still 50 runs short of close to par. Cooky couldn't do much more than he did.

We suck.

Yeah, fair. Don't think it's very significant so low though with such a small sample size.

What was it before his 50 at the SCG? I remember it being really low not long ago.
In the past couple of years, he's averaged over 30 at a sr of over 100. He's got his confidence as a hitter now and so his average has gone up steadily.

This might be a defendable total. I can't believe even if it's Lords that the track is this easy. Well done Swanny.

Exactly right. Funny how the guy who didn't watch the innings understands it better than the guy who did.
