In real time, it didn't look like it had a remote chance of clipping off, let alone pitching inline. It was laughable.

It's not a bowlers pitch. It's equally good for both bowlers and batsmen.
The main reason we are getting low scores is that both batting line-ups aren't that strong...
Yeah, it is an excellent Test match pitch. A good spinner should also prosper on this wicket. Harbhajan will probably have to contribute at some stage today for India to win this..

If only there was some way look at it again, slowed down, with the path of the ball calculated beyond the point of impact as if the pad wasn't there at all. Then we might be able to reduce the errors people make when looking at such things in real time at full speed with a pad in the way.

Ahh, if only.

Genuinely impressed by Ishant today. Good pace and plenty of variations, he's put together a level of working the batsman over, something I've never seen from him before.

Mithun on the other hand looks a long way from Test standard. Not surprised he's been dropped.

Mithun was a surprising selection in the first place.

Btw, another advantage with Praveen in the team is that he can bowl longer spells it seems than other bowlers.

Is not turning enough on the 5th day to really help a spinner ,tbf.

The bounce is pretty even too.

Who else was in the frame?

Sreesanth, Zaheer and Munaf were all injured/rested. Would've gone Pankaj for the tour myself but I wasn't shocked by Mithun's selection at all; he definitely looks better than Unadkat anyway, even though I think he's near enough to proper gash as well.

Unless you're meaning that you were surprised he was picked ahead of Mishra for this match...

Vinay Kumar, imo. Has a much better record for the same state too.

Not that i rate him very highly, they took Umesh Yadav to South Africa too ,and having not played him there, really there was not much basis since then to drop him and pick Mithun over him. (And i would say Yadav is better than him as well)

Pankaj Singh as you said would have been my choice too ,but don't think he was in the fray for some reason.

You (and myriad others) have said this once, twice, a thousand times. And a whole host of posters have reacted to it a thousand times.

Is that urge to go around in circles all over again all that irrepressible? And if it is, is is too much to request you to do your stuff in one of those threads dedicated for going round and round over and over again, instead of the match thread?
