They should stop calling those fours outside edges. It bounced within a metre after hitting Dravid's bat, he played it very deliberately through the slips with soft hands.
Outside edge only refers to where it hit the bat, not the intent tbf :p

Why do they have to take lunch after 1 hour when there is no rain after the start was delayed by Rain in the first place?

Stupid rule.
Specially considering it is likely to rain on and off and has been for the past 2 days.

While there's definitely still swing and seam out there the bounce isn't as volatile anymore. I suppose a normal team could chase 300 here but I doubt the Windies could get 250. Better get some quick wickets after lunch.

Hmm.. some balls were definitely rearing up off a length, even for Sammy. Dravid in particular did well to play with soft hands and keep them down. I think 250 would be safe. This ground doesn't give good value for your shots either, with the slow outfield due to rain.

I thought Barath caught that cleanly from one angle tbh - But fair enough to be ruled not out
It looked clean to me....

The problem with two-dimensional replays is that they always give the impression that low catches touch the ground, because of a lack of depth of field.

I believe these referrals on low catches should give the benefit of the doubt to the catcher, and should only be overturned if it's shown conclusively that the ball touched the ground....

The umpires are inconsistent in this regard. I've seen catches like that one referred to the third umpire, and given out, in the England matches that I've watched recently. In the end, it depends on the experience of the TV umpire....

Yeah true. 250 probably would be safe. Simmons has been pretty hopeless at the top of the order which won't help their cause.

I think there was one angle which seemed to suggest it hit the ground first while the rest showed a clean catch. Not going to make a big huff about it because those decisions seem to go either way but there should be some sort of stated consistency with regards to questionable catches

12.15 Familiar bad news It's raining again in Barbados. Let's hope it goes away soon.

Why did they have to take the lunch break after 1 hour of play again?

Whenever I have seen one of these being referred, there would be at least one angle which seemed to suggest it hit the ground first. IMHO, TV replays should not be used to adjudicate on these kinds of catches - the umpires should just call it on their gut feeling. Refer it, and the batsman is almost always going to get the benefit of the doubt.

I share your views on this....

My parents live in Barbados, and they tell me that this time of the year is when the island is most likely to get rain. Silly scheduling, IMHO.
