Yes, Trott especially needs to start rotating the strike, I know this is what he does but on this pitch, with that score, he almost puts the onus, on the other batter, till he gets going.

Right, that was down to Trott not scoring and Cook having to force it,when he's hit 48 off 52.

ffs, another batsman gives his wicket away. What is going on?

Perhaps it was the pathetic slow scoring of Trott that made Cook lose his head (and wicket).

Let's hope KP keeps his head on and belts a century.

It's definitely that, when a guy only hits 11 off 26 at the other end and the run rate is rising.Trott at this rate, will force all the batsmen into forcing the pace.

I'm not sure if KP would have played that shot, if Trott had taken the initiative when he came in.The run rate would also be nearer 6 rpo, if Trott was hitting close to a run a ball.

SL had a massive death over explosion though. Otherwise yeah if England can get to about 3/160 after 30 overs they'll feel they're still well in the hunt

E: What a catch! England in real trouble now

Damn, we forgot to add any SLA's to the starting lineup.

EDIT: Turns out we dont need any. Well done.

Tbf Sanga was scoring at a similar rate at the start of his innings. Trott is the sort of player that could score two or three boundaries in succession.

Give Trott some time. Obviously 25 off 40 isn't good enough but that's only if he gets out.

...and we're boned.

the trouble is when your chasing it's different, the run rate is over 7 and a guy at one end going really slow, puts the pressure on the other guy.
The big trouble I have with Trott, is even when a wicket falls and a new batter comes in, he doesn't take the pressure off him, to get in.

Mahela and Sanga weren't exactly scoring too quickly when they started their innings either. Throwing your wicket away cheaply is a bigger issue here.

This. I thought the WC (and the preceding Aus-Eng series) erased any doubts about how good an ODI batsman Trott is. He'll never be a Jayasuriya or Afridi, but he's still a superb batsman.

But some one came in at the end and hit 46 off 30 and it's always different when your chasing imo.

Good shot that.

Well, someone could always do that for England as well. Just singles and the occasional boundary will get England close enough but they dont seem to be thinking that way.

Its just the pressure of the scoreboard playing on their heads now.

England's RR can be made up later. Just need to keep at least 6 wickets in hand for the Power Play.
