Samaraweera isn't as bad a batsman as people seem to think he is. He isn't particularly pretty to watch but he certainly gets the job done.
AWTA. Very glad he got some crucial runs today, was scoring at a healthy pace as well taking the heat off Sanga.

I doubt that the rain staying away would have helped at Lord's. Yes, England had got into a good position by the end, but the rain interrupted on the 3rd day when sri lanka were very much on top, so it might have hindered them just as much.
I dunno. Dilshan had just got out. Reckon we'd have got through them just as quick.

Interesting series

Some of the play wasnt of the highest standard but it was great to see SL get some exposure outside the subcontinent

Eng were never really troubled but they have issues (e.g. on current form, both Strauss and Broad are passengers) so it will be interesting to see how they shape up against India

Dont think you can call Dravid a passenger. Was the best among the batsmen yesterday with the slight exception of Raina. Still thats not really relevant to this thread.

England's ODI squad is announced in a couple of years. My tips:

Cook
Kieswetter
Trott
Pietersen
Bell
Patel
Wright
Swann
Broad
Bresnan (if fit)
Anderson
Shazhad
Woakes
Bopara
????

Probably missed someone obvious, did it off the top of my head

Only the sides best batsman, Morgan.

Don’t think Bell did anything in the WC to warrant selection and Bopara would only be there as a bowling option, batting isn’t good enough. Wright should never get selected again while I think Dirtbag will be a shoe-in.

I would select Jason Viru Roy to partner Cook but Kes deserves another chance.

Haha, see, I always miss out someone really obvious

The squad above isn't what I'd pick but what I'm expecting. Thought about Dernbach, especially as I'm not sure they'll pick Anderson - would be no bad thing if they just asked him to focus on Tests, IMO.

I agree on Bell and Bopara but think they'll both get a go. Wasn't sure on Wright but thought if they do open with Kieswetter they might want him down at 7.

Average in England as designated keeper is 30.54

Average in England when not keeping wicket is 30.66
Though 30 is nowhere near a good average as a batsman, it is not completely crap either.

I cannot back things up by statistics, but could it make a difference he has always batted in May/June, rather than July/August in England?
