I'd say the current bowling unit is overwhelmingly superior to 2005.

The 2005 unit was carried by Flintoff and Jones.
Hmmmm, as a unit and for the whole time period they were a unit, disagree. Would take the combo of Hoggard/GBH/Jones/Flintoff/Giles any day of the week over Tremlett/Anderson/Broad/Swann.

Virat Kohli (c)
Yeah massively underrating Hoggard there. I presume here we're not just talking about the 2005 Ashes, but the whole era of that team. If so, then you can't discount Hoggard's good work from 2004-2006.

I think when you factor in the huge difference in the standard of fielding between the two sides this one comes out on top anyway.

imho, the english team from 04 to 06 was as good as the aus team then.
The performance level at the time might have been the same, but saying they were "as good" (ie quality not performance) is pushing it

England-India - who's gonna win? England I think.

Have always fancied England in England and India in India. Don't see anything different this time around.

DWTA. It was an ATG squad alright but Macca was injured and Gillespie was having a shocker, '01 squad the strongest of the last decade IMO. It had Steve Waugh too.
in retrospect.. yes.. but pre series no!

Eng did well to defy and deny jesus...

u are as good as u perform imho
True in general, but in the short term I disagree. Good players/teams might have a bad day/series and similarly bad players/teams might have a good day/series. Form is temporary but class is permanent.

Well said shivfan. Poor behaviour from Sachin to skip this tour because he wants his 100th ton to be at Lord's.
