Why noone is responding my posts about Ishant Sharma.............im getting irritated...........arent anybody else...........This ape is not even suitable to play school cricket.........still getting a chance in indian team...........its bad that such a country like India do not get good bowlers (quality bowlers who can atleast bat a bit- someone like Srinath,Kumble,Agarkar,Prabhakhar etc.........) People like Ishant suck huge time

OMG! I just saw on cricinfo that this guy Vinay Kumar is listed as right arm medium! :-O

Now, I don't follow the IPL and have never seen him bowl. Can reghuh or someone else who's seen him bowl confirm this? Is he really a military-medium bowler? Ala Ganguly, Styris, D.Martyn or Collingwood?

Well, he's batting at no. 11 so too much cannot be expected off him in that department. As for bowling, he looked close to his old pace in the last ODI.

People told me that he got better and quicker through the IPL but I haven't seen him in a while. I'd see his bowling in this innings before judging.

Btw, can you fill me in on this Vinay Kumar? What sort of a bowler is he? Threatening?

No. He's not fast, but quicker than Praveen Kumar and Munaf.

Cricinfo are kind of dodgy with those. They also call Graham Napier medium pace, and half the time he's Essex's fastest bowler.

Incidentally I wouldn't call Colly and Styris military medium anyway. These days they're like quick offspinners.

Yes Vinay is a medium bowler only who runs in like a train and bowls medium pace...people will feel as if he is going to bowl a rocket pace ball and will get fooled...lols

Ishant is one of the worst bowlers world has ever seen.......no control, no direction and he doesnt know what is a yorker/short ball

Very interesting figures being showed on Ten Cricket.

Any of the Indian players including IPL/Champions league in the last 18 months have played maximum of 139 days of cricket(Dhoni).
While the rest of the players have played about 110 or even lesser cricket.

While when they showed the same figures for Tony greig he for 5 years played around 130 days of cricket in 12 months actually.

Itstl.

I am not too sure. Russel generally operates in the 79-83 mph region but seems to bowl a heavier ball than most. He muscles in the odd one at around 86 mph. I would call him fast-medium. Looks very effective particularly with his aggressive streak and willingness to use the short-pitched ball.
I saw him get up to around 90 during the SL test series, which is what I'm basing it on. I felt he was about as fast as Roach but his ball was heavier, like you say.

Yeah. was just going to post that. Inspite of that Indian players seem to have been playing more cricket recently compared to the rest of the teams. Still, puts all these fatigue complaints by modern players into perspective.

Yup very interesting figures, I was speechless, considering the cricketers nowadays have all fitness coaches

Bowled by Sharma!

This is a bouncy track. The gully fielder would do well to move finer. Don't expect too many thickish edges on this pitch.

EDIT: Oh dear, this is a pity! The batsmen are not getting value for their strokes on a heavy outfield.

Anyway WI are going to loose this game.......but India should have made 280 atleast .Irresponsible batting from Pathan and Ishant Sharma proved his standard
Aren't you being a bit harsh? He's a number eleven dude, and that ball from Russell was a pretty good one. Well thought out too, I might add - two bouncers and then he followed it up with a yorker. Too good for a number eleven. Mishra and Vinay Kumar batted like morons, though.
