"The Mercury understands openers Jon Wells and Rhett Lockyear have not received new contracts while rookies Jeremy Smith, Matt Day, Brady Jones and Hamish Kingston have also been axed."

Massive loses I'm sure you all agree.....

Noble One

International Vice-Captain
Massive fail by Tasmania to persist with Rhett Lockyear for so long. He played the occasional decent innings in both the One Day competition and Twenty20, but every time I watched him play he looked technically limited.

Rhett Lockyear had a brilliant time in the field against Sri Lanka. Not a bad claim to fame, greater achievement than what many first class cricketers achieve in a career.

Mark day has had 2 super futures seasons,it seems only age could be a factor in his dropping,i guess he turns 24 and rookie are under 23 players.

Test schedule released

Brisbane again raped in the arse by the pricks at CA.

Again, we fail to get the marque team; fed the Test match scraps.

In terms of importance, we're bracketed with Hobart.

Good god, what makes Perthites and Adelaidarians so special.

Doubt I will attend.

Sri Lanka love playing ODIs in Australia, don't they? Seem to be there every other year. Are CA bringing back the tri-series format that they retired in 2008?

Yes, but in CA typical fashion they 've stuffed the tri-series up too, by bringing back the protracted version of 8 qualifying games each, followed by a best of three final series.

I preferred the abridged version of 6 qualifiers each

From memory, Sri Lanka have been in the ODI tri-series in 2003, 2006, 2008, played a bilateral 3 match series in Australia last year, and will be in the tri-series in 2012 as well. Haha, they might as well be joint hosts of the CB series.

Indeed. Far cry from the days when they had to be paired with a top team like Pakistan just to ensure people cam ethrough the gate.
