Even taking into account political disputes that just Rules out Gayle IIRC?

The rest they are not selecting out of choice .
They probably believe this is their best lineup.
Oh come on. Kirk Edwards? Sammy as Captain?

There selectors seem to believe it. Like Australian selectors believed Katich should not open in tests etc...

They being inept is as crucial as the players being inept.

There are whispers of political motivations behind the non-selections of Chanderpaul and Taylor.

Taylor moreso for the ineptness of not checking up on him to see if he is fit to play.
Chaderpaul was the build for future etc.. reaction after the World Cup.

Agree on Taylor but he is coming back from Injury and doubt would have made much difference in this series tbh seeing how even Roach and Rampaul are going.

Except Sammy was made captain and has retained the position because of political reasons

Gayle still played on the series after he was removed, did he not?

Also Gayle at most was removed due to that,Sammy was not appointed due to that.

You don't think it's weird that previously Sammy couldn't make the test squad let alone the position of captaincy before the contract disputes?

Already expected Windies to get thrashed in this ODI series. Expecting a much better turn out for the tests though. So sick of limited overs. yawwnnnn
This.
Bring on real cricket.Been missing real competitive test cricket for some time now.

West Indies had a golden opportunity to scream out to the world that they aren't pushovers, and say an emphatic "**** you" to BCCI for sending a second XI.
That is the key. The fact that they were unable to prove that tells me that the West Indian cricketers have no pride of performance left anymore. If you look at the way Kemar Roach walks back to his bowling mark, you'd think he is a defeated man even before the first ball is bowled.

The body language is just so negative. I also noticed that in the series against Pakistan. Their shoulders tend to drop very quickly and am sure that is a worry.

Who do you suggest should captain? Even before the contract dispute, Gayle did not sign up for being the captain. It was (by his own admission) thrust upon him.

Whatever be Sammy's shortcomings as a player, I can appreciate him for not running away.

I have nothing against Sammy personally. I think he has the best intentions at heart.

I'd have Sarwan as Captain though. Realistically, Sammy isn't that good strategically and he doesn't really hold his place in the team.

Agree with that. Lack of options has made them fall back on him.

Assuming he is willing and would be given a team of his choice by the WICB?
He's the best choice. I don't know if he'd be willing or not but he's the only senior player getting picked in both formats and is looking like getting some form back. Sammy is more of a problem in tests than ODIs but at least the pitches seem to be tailor made for his bowling.

He was very very bad when he was captain.. I think that is why he is not given that opportunity..

I always thought Sarwan would make a pretty decent captain, but he was terrible. Don't think he was ever too interested in doing it which obviously didn't help.

Why the heck didn't West Indies pick Darren Bravo and Chris Gayle for the last match? Jeez, talking about shooting yourself in the foot. Glad India managed to wrap it up though. Hope we win it five-nil.

Awesome. I don't pay a lot of attention to ODI rankings in general because of the World Cup factor, but being number one is better than not being number one. :D
