*Official* - India in West Indies

More sympathy for a team that willfully sends the second XI who dominates than the team with a ******** board that chooses a second XI and watches them be annihilated.

It's not an argument of sympathy though. Why credit India with sending a second XI ODI unit while not also acknowledging that the Windies are fielding a second XI too

Gayle
Barath
Jerome Taylor
Fidel Edwards
Chanderpaul
Sammy (Playing)

These are all the selection issues. Granted, India are presenting a 2nd XI by choice but it doesn't change the fact that this is a much weaker Windies side than its potential best.
Haha might as well include Brian lara and courtney walsh in that list as well :P

Frankly though must admit Gayle factor missing.

Political dumbness makes this a West Indian first XI. Whos to say if Gayle or Chanderpaul will ever play for their nation again? At least we know that India is actually resting players, not having a ridiculous tiff with them.

Can you post something mildly useful. They're all relevant players that are being left out

Is this the West Indies full strength XI ?

No. So its a second XI regardless of circumstances

Number 11

State Regular
Looking to the positives...

At least some fringe international players are getting a go in this series. Russell, Mishra etc.

I am crying out for a few fiery spells from Roach though.

So? Should we argue that Kiwi players who felt snubbed by management and left the team should count?

No you should be judged by the team you can actually field, that includes all the bull**** politics that surrounds the game as well. The West Indies can field a hypothetical better XI, India can actually field a better one.

Yeah this.

West Indies had a golden opportunity to scream out to the world that they aren't pushovers, and say an emphatic "**** you" to BCCI for sending a second XI.

But instead have only cemented further that they are more closer to Bangladesh than the top 5 in the cricketing heirarchy sadly.

But selecting the best team is part of the Job of being the best.

Sometimes you have to experiment too.

Dhawan and Patel are probably behind Vijay and Mukund as openers for example for me at the moment, but that does not mean that I claim this is India's 3rd choice lineup.:p
Same with some other players.

Also doubt Taylor or Edwards would make much difference on these pitches where faster bowlers are easier to smack than slower ones.

Illustrated by Yesterday's scorecard for both teams -

3rd ODI: West Indies v India at North Sound, Jun 11, 2011 | Cricket Scorecard | ESPN Cricinfo

Except for Gayle and Barath the rest are available for selection too.

It doesn't matter if it's by choice or not. Fact of the matter is that the West Indies are fielding a significantly weakened team than they would if there were no political disputes.

Even taking into account political disputes that just Rules out Gayle IIRC?

The rest they are not selecting out of choice .
They probably believe this is their best lineup.

West Indies clearly aren't the best, but this is not their best available line up, for whatever reasons

There are whispers of political motivations behind the non-selections of Chanderpaul and Taylor.

Taylor moreso for the ineptness of not checking up on him to see if he is fit to play.
