A bit contradictory no? If they thought the umpires were incompetent then they would prefer to leave a bit of room for technology to play its part.

EDIT:

Exactly
The umpires are dumb ****s who can't combine the UDRS with common sense.

Its like giving a blind guy a rifle to defend himself.

ECB's got mail. :)

Hello, I've just come to know that the BCCI are opposing the use of UDRS in the upcoming test series. That's a complete joke, in my opinion.

It's my understanding that the home team has the biggest say regarding the UDRS and I request that the ECB insist strongly that the UDRS is used. The opposition behind the UDRS stems from atrocious reasoning such as Bell not being given out during the WC game vs India which, guess what, would not have been given out even is the UDRS was not present. It is scary that the cricket body which represents the most massive fan base is so illogical and stubborn.

I'm an Indian fan living in India and almost every serious test cricket fan I know is for the UDRS. While it isn't a perfect system, It's a step forward and it's outright stupid not to prefer a 95% system over an 80% system just because the former is not 100%.

With diminishing but still present hope in cricket governance,

Teja

Sad news.

But the overreactions here are over the top. Certainly cricket existed without UDRS for all but what 4 years of history? People are ridiculing and cursing as if BCCI just committed murder of cricket. Chill fellas, it's only a minor irritant, i promise ya this is gonna be one hell of a series ;)

the thing that pisses me off is not how they just refuse to accept it but it's how they reacted at Bucknor-gate and when ICC offers them a perfectly workable solution they just piss all over it.Would not mind seeing couple of important decisions going against them.

Just to clarify the Bucknor situation in 2008 was not only down to that one test and decisions alone but also due to other factors .

That was just the final straw that broke the came's back with regards to Bucknor,as the feeling was build for over a decade. He probably would have screwed over with UDRS too ,but certainly would have made it more difficult for him.

Hi Martyn.
Many thanks for your email.
There is not much we can say really. England wanted to use DRS but the BCCI did not. As you know, for the system to be used both sides must be in agreement.
Still, it should be a brilliant series.
I hope you enjoy it.

Yeah got the same response. Before atleast it was merely the BCCI opposing it but now there's a sense of finality to the issue. :(
