Resting Zaheer is asking for it unless WICB prepare turners, which is quite possible because they're not the brightest bulbs in the box.

Hope Mishy makes a test comeback and owns batsmen like he used to when he debuted in 2008. Sick of Swann being seen as the world's best spinner as much as I  him.:p

Tbf ,from what i have read they can't exactly prepare seamer friendly tracks this time of the year all of a sudden even if they wanted to.

When they try to put grass on those tracks it dies quickly and only holds the pitch together making it too flat.

Personally, I think both sides are at fault....

It's not hard for the two of them to meet. Anyone who watched the first ODI could see Gayle and Taylor in the stands, watching the match. If the cameraman can find him, then so could anyone else.

But the problem is one of a standoff. Gayle has been summoned to bow and scrape before a disciplinary board, full of selectors, board members, etc. If Gayle is in a Katich-like mood, then that kind of confrontational meeting is not going to happen, or if it does, it's going to end in a lose-lose situation. What West Indies cricket needs is for someone in authority to approach Gayle and say, let's let bygones be bygones, and move on from here.

If that doesn't happen, then strife will continue to reign in WI cricket, and the West Indies will continue to field weakened teams that they cannot afford to field....
Yeah I agree. They're both at fault but I do wonder, considering the amount he makes from the IPL, how much does Gayle care to play for the Windies?

With Zaheer rested for the test series I'm quite excited for a potential upset, especially if some of the groundsman pull their finger out and prepare some bounce

It shouldn't be all of a sudden though. It should have been planned ahead

want windies to push it badly, with all gayle force and that, and shake us off false over confidence in these younglings. seriously I am getting over confident in our bench strength, after how our one day has done in last one year or more.

It's not hard to understand. The groundsman should have been advised well in advance that India and Pakistan were touring and that bouncy wickets would have been most beneficial for the West Indies.

It's a long term problem though as shown by the tendency of Windies spinners to be among the top wicket takers in their domestic competition

Have they really had any hard and bouncy non flat wickets helping the pacers ,in any match in the last few years even?

The characteristics of their pitches seem to have changed and will take a lot of effort to change.

Zaheer and Sreesanth missing the West Indies tests -

Praveen Kumar and Mithun the replacements.

Praveen is a good choice but not sure about Mithun. Would have probably preferred Vinay Kumar ahead of him or a Pankaj Singh etc..
Why not continue with Praveen & Munaf ? Munaf can be very effective in tests.

Guess they are looking for a fast bowler in Mithun...i'm pretty sure he's gonna disappoint.

This could all end quite badly for us. Can easily see an upset here, and England primed to take over the No. 1 at the end of the summer. :ranting:

Agreed...I'm a fan of Gayle, but I do doubt his commitment to WI cricket, with the IPL proving so lucrative. However, who has the handle, and who has the blade? I'm of the opinion that if the WICB try to fight the IPL, they'll lose. I think they need to curry favour with Gayle, and not the other way around.

I'm really disappointed that Zaheer and Sreesanth are not turning up, either. Who's going to be left to watch in this series?

And I see it's now become news that India won't allow UDRS to be used in England. Well, isn't that also the case in this upcoming Test series between the West Indies and India too? It's a shame, because UDRS was used successfully in the Pakistan-WI Test series, and I hoped it would've been used against India too. In the first Test at Providence, UDRS was used to overturn four or five key decisions in a close match....

I really hope the Indians don't moan too much if they get a bad decision in the Test series....
8-)
But if the ODIs are anything to go by, it may well be the Windies that are the ones to get more bad decisions as a result of the absence of UDRS. Not that it will probably matter, anyway, because indications are that India will most likely have the upper hand in this Test series.

I think it's a pretty clear situation that the WICB is losing far more than Gayle. They just need to build a bridge for the sake of West Indies cricket.

With Zaheer gone I genuinely feel, depending on the line up presented, that the West Indies have a decent chance in this series. Fingers crossed for Barath to come back into the fold and Roach retains some form

One thing that I completely forgot. Fletcher is supposed to one of the best coaches to spot technical deficiencies in batting. Hope he finds and corrects some minor flaw in Dravid's technique and makes him score a **** load of runs again.

Just to clarify, Sreesanth and Zaheer are not playing due to injuries. Not because they can't be bothered to turn up.

Praveen Kumar playing tests can only be a good thing. I love you IPL even though I can't stand watching you. haters, suck, fat etc.
